Todd 04/15/2010 Petertoddpoet.com The long stretched walk from end to end Its memorial stones paying homage to Gloucester past A silent moment to my soul ascends The historic scenes to my vision cast In the harbor anchored lobstermen at their task So they can feed and nurture their young All they seek is a good catch today This beautiful scene of Gloucester beneath God’s sun The rushing tide of the oceans waves Disturbed by speedboats cutting its way God’s seagulls with their own sounds made Truly the work of our Creator we could say Ten Pound Islands its winged creatures taking flight With the Breakwater protecting our shore The Fishermen’s statue who oversees days and nights Our Island of Gloucester visitors come to explore Tablets representing thousands who have died Loved ones gathered to witness with pride The statue of The Fishermen’s children and wife On this beautiful Island in which we abide
