The flood in two points leaved the state of Rio Branco/AC to be isolated, generating the need to send food by boats and airplanes, with mobilization of the army to carry out the emergency transportation. In addition to flooding risk of the road and other points, upstream of the Santo Antonio and Jirau dams, there is also the possibility of flooding in some urban areas, with the city of Porto Velho being the most critical point on the banks of the Madeira River. The Madeira River Crisis Room aims to promote the articulation between decision makers involved in water resources management in the region, allowing the systematic monitoring of flood evolution facilitating the adoption of decisions to preventing or minimizing impacts. This work presents the use of the GLOFAS as a tool for decision making in the Madeira River crisis room to anticipate flooding. Márcio A. Abstract In March 2014, the flooding of the Madeira River caused an interruption of the only road linking two northern Brazilian states to Acre and Rondonia.
