Devorah Schwartz-arad received her DMD and PhD degrees from the Faculty of Medicine, Hebrew University, Jerusalem, israel. She is a specialist in oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and was the senior lecturer in the Department of oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Maurice and Gabriela Goldschleger School of Dental Medicine, Tel aviv University until 2008.

Dr. Schwartz-arad’s research focuses on immediate dental implantation, bone augmentation procedures for dental implants, the influence of smoking on the success of dental implants, and the impact of anxiety on the recovery process of patients.

Dr. Schwartz-arad is a member of the Specialty Examination Board for oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, nominated by the israel Dental association Scientific Council, israel. She is the author or co-author of invited reviews and has published numerous scientific articles and abstracts. She has presented more than 100 papers at scientific meetings and international academic conferences in israel, Europe and the United-States. She has been awarded several academic and professional awards, including by the israeli academy of Sciences and the israel Cancer association.

Dr. Schwartz-arad is the author and editor of the book "ridge preservation & immediate implantation" published by quintessence in 2012.

all the existing intra-oral scanners are trying to face the limitations and the disadvantages of the traditional impression procedure maintaining a high accuracy level in order to be used as an efficacious alternative to the conventional impression technique. in this presentation, the authors analyze different cases, highlighting the operational differences that they have developed over time, with the increasing knowledge of the new materials and the development of new softwares. it is also described how traditional materials and techniques have been replaced with other innovative technologies, and how the results obtained with these new technologies are much more systematic than the traditional ones.

in prosthetic rehabilitations, we have used for many years codified and widely described protocols in literature, with results that met our expectations and well above those of our patients. it is true that the advent of new technologies has enabled the dental team to use new material and new equipment that facilitated the production of an adaptation and an accuracy of the prosthetic rehabilitation that has, up to now, been difficult to obtain. in 2010, Paulo kano, idealized and began the creation of the technique that makes it possible to mimic the natural morphology of dental elements. in 2013, he published it with quintessence Publishing, as aST (anatomic Shell Technique). Subsequently, in partnership with Livio yoshinaga, the technique was denominated Skyn Concept.

SkyN is a new way to make ceramic restorations. a concept which combines predictability and practicality by replicating the natural teeth morphology. it can be applied in different restorative needs. The use of CaD / CaM technology allows to extract in maximum precision, quality and speed.

The technique enables the reduction of important laboratory steps, dispensing the wax-up to create mockups, the diagnostic wax-up and the hard work to replicate the morphology manually. with this method it is possible to make veneers, crowns or a full rehabilitation of a mouth, fully individualized and personalized for each patient. Considering that the nature is lush in the morphology, the use of these allows the confection of the restorations aligned in endless possibilities.

Furthermore, the preformed dental sculpture enables the exact position of an incision when used in periodontal plastic surgery. Therefore, it can be utilized as surgical guides. with this method it is possible to achieve high levels of functionality and aesthetic excellence.

Tissue and socket preservation are important topics that are considered to be a major pre-requirement to achieve an aesthetic result. Commonly it is admitted that “bone gives the tone”, but in our protocol, soft tissues are the most important part to consider prior to hard tissue preservation. immediate extraction / implantation (with or without immediate temporization) are recommended in the aesthetic zone. additional bone grafts and soft tissues reconstruction are indicated in most of those cases. Today digital dentistry has become a planning and diagnostic tool and can perform highly predictable treatments in both the surgery and the rehabilitation phases.

Currently, most of the treatments are focused on the aesthetic area and the implantology is certainly the predictable tool to work on cases in the aesthetic sector.

we plan and treat our patients with computer-guided surgery to have a minimally invasive and safe surgery and then we can rehabilitate this patient with CaD\CaM prints, all based on telemedicine and digital flows. all this have the same objectives: safety, speed, simple procedures with replicable aesthetic results.

This presentation aims to show the classification of bone defects of the alveolar process due to periodontal disease, trauma, congenital defects and tumor pathology. From this perspective, i intend to show the different alternatives for alveolar reconstruction, based on my experience and on scientific evidence published in the literature. i will illustrate the advantages and disadvantages, the indications and contradictions of using anthologues block bone graft versus heterologous bone grafts for reconstruction. Likewise, in vertical defects i will speak about the different options and their predictability in the reconstruction. alternative procedures for aesthetic optimization such as maxillary orthognathic surgery, microvascular free flaps, and bone regeneration with stem cells will be considered.

The conclusions obtained in this presentation are:1. The techniques of alveolar reconstruction have precise indications and there is no generic technique for all cases. 2. it is important to relate the classification of the defects with the different surgical procedures for each case. 3. The cost-benefit ratio will not give an additional tool for the selection of the most aesthetic technique in each patient.

Prof. Dr. Gustavo reales graduated as a dentist at the Faculty of Dentistry of the University of Buenos aires, argentina in 1992. He obtained his degree as Specialist in oral implantology at the Pontifical Catholic University of argentina. Graduated from the Current Program in american Dentistry at the School of Dentistry of New york University, USa.

He holds the position of director of the Specialist Career in oral implantology at the Universidad Nacional de Concepción in asunción, Paraguay.

From 2005 to 2013 he held the position of Professor of the Fixed and removable Prosthesis Chair of the argentine University John Fitzgerald kennedy. Director since 2007 of the Triennial Program of Training and Training in oral implantology of the Municipal Hospital of Dentistry "Dr. José Duenas", that belongs to the Government of the autonomous City of Buenos aires, argentina. He is currently director of the research Department of the international Center for Dental Education - ivoclair/vivadent in asuncion, Paraguay. it is developing different research works in conjunction with CNEa (National atomic Energy Commission of the argentine republic).

He has taught courses and conferences in different countries in america, Europe and the Middle East. His main line of work is dedicated to the preservation and recovery of hard and soft peri-implant tissues.
