Creating Leaders for a Complex World

“ I came as a manager and am now prepared as a leader. ”

VP Human ResourcesInternational Assignments, Robert Bosch GmbH, Germany

WHERE LEADERS ARE CREATED Today’s global economy, and increasingly complex world, requires organizations and their

leaders to develop the specific skills to anticipate, adjust and adapt to this rapidly changing

business landscape. The Global Leadership Executive Forum is the demanding flagship

program in the leadership seminar curriculum of Carnegie Bosch Institute, enabling participants

to make a greater impact on the success of their multinational companies. The program is

specifically designed to provide international managers with the knowledge and skills in the key

areas necessary to e!ectively lead in a global business environment.

Led by world-class faculty from around the globe, the intensive four-week program integrates three focus areas in an international context:

Managing the Business

Managing Yourself

* Managing and Leading Others

The program addresses key issues of strategy, business

and leadership. By learning and working together with

peers from other functional areas, industries and cultures,

topics of broad economic and international scope take

on a di!erent perspective.

Learning occurs in a highly interactive setting that

incorporates thought-provoking lectures, case studies,

experiential small group workshops, individual and team

coaching, learning stewardship, and innovative project

work with real-life business partners.

The program provides a transformational learning

experience. Participants will test their individual

assumptions, provoking new ways of thinking about

global markets, strategy, value creation and leadership.

Personal growth is an important element of the program,

with 360 degree feedback and personal coaching

integrated into the curriculum.

Emphasis throughout the Global Leadership Executive

Forum is on shifting the learning from classroom concept

to relevant application in the real world.

TARGETED FOR GLOBAL EXECUTIVESThe Global Leadership Executive Forum has been specifically designed to meet the complex needs of mid-to-senior level executives in multinational companies who currently hold, or aspire to, a key role in a global operation. Participants typically have 8-15 years of management experience. They come from around the world with di!erent cultural backgrounds. Participants represent a wide-ranging cross-section of functional areas including executive management, strategic planning, finance, human resources, legal, marketing, sales, operations, research & development, product engineering, and manufacturing, among others.

A PERSONAL INVESTMENT Attending the demanding, four-week Global Leadership Executive Forum requires significant personal involvement from each participant. Participants attend Global Leadership with the goal to increase their personal organizational impact through:

Examining and understanding the rapidly evolving global business environment and how that impacts their organization

Exploring cutting-edge strategy, corporate performance, and leadership concepts with world-class faculty

Gaining a heightened understanding of the complexities and value of multi-cultural diversity and how it applies to leadership in the 21st century

Examining personal leadership styles, presence and confidence through diverse and demanding experiential activities supported by feedback and individual coaching

Increasing their ability to identify and e!ectively lead change initiatives through aligning internal and external constituents

Building a powerful professional network with multi-national peers across a wide range of industries

Participants are part of a transformational learning experience. The program includes thought-provoking lectures by leading international faculty, case studies, team assignments that require experiential application of knowledge (“rapid prototyping”), small group sessions and workshops, a computer simulation, applied leadership techniques from the performing arts, and real-time leadership projects with regional business partners, along with opportunities for social and multicultural interaction. The program incorporates state of the art training methods that go beyond the classroom and provide a common thread that ties the program together using “I as a leader” as a framework, helping participants move forward on the critical path from being the leaders of teams to leading teams of teams, and further on to leading the organization. The program is carefully designed to guide participants

from learning in the classroom to application of that knowledge in the real world.

This integrated approach and a focus on personal awareness help participants further develop the leadership skills and behaviors that are necessary to succeed. An important learning tool is the personal input participants receive throughout the program, including various assessment tools, 360 degree feedback, peer-to-peer feedback, and professional coaching catered to their personal leadership development. By learning about themselves, participants enhance their understanding of the people dimension of business to become more e!ective leaders. Participants leave with their individual leadership action plan, reinforcing the notion that the end of the 4-week program at Carnegie Bosch Institute is the beginning of a continuing personal leadership development journey.

THE LEADERSHIP PROJECTThe Leadership Project is a unique, signature component of the Global Leadership Executive Forum.

Participants will work as part of a multicultural and cross-functional project team with executives from

international companies to address a current strategic challenge. These interactive projects provide

the opportunity to utilize the leadership skills and apply the concepts learned in the classroom to a

practical, real world setting. The projects are challenging and encourage participants to work outside

their comfort zone in order to enhance their personal approach to business and leadership.

THE PEOPLE DIMENSION IN INTERNATIONAL BUSINESSToday’s executives face a world marked by complex global challenges for themselves and

their organizations. The goal of the Global Leadership Executive Forum is to improve

the management of global corporations by building a strong foundation and significantly

enhancing the strategic thinking and leadership skills of executives in mid-to-senior level

management.

“ The program was a great experience in multicultural learning, dealing with marketing opportunities, providing thinking focus and expanding leadership abilities. It fulfilled and exceeded all of my expectations.” Manager System Integration Electric/Electronics for X5, BMW, Germany
