Thomson Reuters IFG community held a Focus Session in advance of the Global Islamic Economy Summit with Dr. Sayd Farook, Head of Islamic Capital Markets for Thomson Reuters, and Abdalhamid Evans, the founder of Imarat Consultants. After a brief presentation on the status of the Global Islamic Economy, which measures in the hundreds of billion dollars today and has the potential to transform out of niche status in coming years, they engaged with members of the community to discuss the potential for the Islamic Economy.

About the speakers

Session 2: About Shelina Janmohamed 

She is a British writer. She grew up in North London and studied at New College, Oxford. She is the author of Love in a Headscarf, a memoir of growing up as a British Musilim woman. 

Janmohamed has written articles for The times, The Guardian, The National, The Muslim News and Emel magazine focusing on Islam and current affairs. She has a particular interest in Muslim women and Islam in the West.

Session 3: About Moinuddin Malim

Moinuddin is the CEO of Mashreq Al-Islami Finance Company PJSC and Head of Islamic Banking Division of Mashreq PSC. He Responsible for the Islamic banking and finance initiative at the Mashreq group level of finance and banking for wholesale and retail banking.

He has over 20 years of Islamic Banking Experience, whilst working directly with the world's leading Shari'ah Scholars.

Session 4: About Rushdi Siddiqui

Rushdi Siddiqui is Co-Founder and Managing Director of Azka Capital, a private equity advisory firm focused on halal industry initiatives with Islamic financing (convergence).

He is also co-founder of Shekra, Shariah compliant crowd funding offering in Egypt.

Rushdi Siddiqui was Global Head of Islamic Finance & OIC Countries for Thomson Reuters, he is now an advisor to Thomson Reuters for Islamic finance, Halal Industry and OIC countries. He has held managerial positions (in Islamic finance) at western multinational companies.
