THE STORY In 1988 the building of the Tamaki business began…with the common foundation of great ideas, but no capital. So with the sale of his brother’s Harley Davidson motorcycle to purchase a 16-seater mini bus, Mike kick-started what was to become a multi-million dollar success with positive outcomes for shareholders, family and community starting the Tamaki experiences with

Full and Half day Tours Rotorua New Zealand

Adventure 4WD Mountain Excisions

White water Rafting adventures

4 day Te Urewera National Park Horseback Treks

The success of the company began to spread as the ‘rag to riches’ story won the hearts of visitor’s and suppliers world- wide. Mike’s ability to see great opportunities and gaps in the marketplace identified the need for ‘authentic, Indigenous experiences and so the growth continued. The concept grew, and soon saw the creation of a whole new encounter with cultural experiences outside the commercial environment of hotels and resorts turning negative critics into positive believers. The original experience now hosts well over 120,000 visitors yearly, for the past 25 years, and portrays the magic, depth and interactive history of a proud people through powerful and natural encounters of history and spirit bought together through amazing story telling. As with any great idea, duplication and copy-cat products would inevitably make their way into market. Utilising entrepreneurial innovation, years of experience and market intelligence, the team set about planning and executing the next phase of product development and growth:

Overnight Themed accommodation Evening Cultural experiences Cultural Education tours Indigenous Village retail

As the demand grew, so did the idea’s and that was something Mike was never short of. Further to this, the enthusiasm saw him head South to the tourism adventure mecca of the world -‘Queenstown’, and it was here the company bought existing businesses:

Dart Wilderness Adventures Glenorchy information Centre Glenorchy camp and cabin site

OUR FEES QUOTES AND PRICING As at March 2012

NO SET FEES: Due to the complexity of tourism consulting, we charge by the project, not by the day or hour. This

helps protect you from unscrupulous consultants who might over bill you, bill you for work not done, or work very

slowly in order to inflate the bill.

ALL-INCLUSIVE PRICING: We prefer the all-inclusive approach: we and you discuss your needs, and we agree upon

one set fee for the work or project. A letter of agreement is then drawn up, stating what you want, what we'll do and

by when, and the payment process and final cost. No surprises for you or us at billing time.

ESTIMATES: However, we know that you want some kind of an idea what things might cost you, so here are some

ball park estimates for specific services.

Tourism Training Workshops

Past projects have averaged about $1,000 per day of training, plus cost of training materials of approximately $30

per person, plus travel expenses for great distances

Tourism Business planning, scoping, projection, marketing

No set fee

We discuss your needs, and then agree upon time frame and one all-inclusive fee.

Based on past experience, to complete a business plan for a small tourist operation takes about 5 to 7 full working

days and costs about $4,000

On average hourly fees are between $70 - $100 per hour
