South Australian Higher Education Delegates Find Similarities with CP’s Engagement in EducationTwelve high level representatives of leading South Australian higher education institutions visit PIM, together

Phacharintanakul recounted CP ALL’s 16-year long contribution to higher education. Today, CP ALL cooperates with the Kingdom of Thailand’s Ministry of Education to operate 116 vocational schools, Panyapiwat Technological College (PTC), Panyapiwat Learning Center (PLC), and PIM. “Evidence of PIM graduates’ high employability and the consistent use of innovative teaching techniques, has steadily increased enrolment and decreased the drop-out rate from 30% to only 8%,” Mr. Phornvit continued.

Mr. Robin Murt, Chief Executive, TAFE SA expressed similarities in PIM’s model with many institutions in South Australia. He mentioned that working closely with industries and employers give students the best opportunity for employment. Cathie Brown, who handles business development and regions for TAFE SA, added that the feedback from their partners is their graduates are ready to work.

Mr. Nicolas Nihon articulated that understanding Asia is a priority for many Belgians, adding that PIM could be something very interesting and unique for those seeking education and some industry experience in Thailand. “I understand that it’s very important

cultures,” he noted.

Dr. Usanee Kulintornprasert, Director, Office of International Relations said that being Thailand’s corporate university, with established industry links, sets PIM apart from all other universities and higher ed-ucation institutes in Thailand. “Employing work-based education allows students to be hands on and exposed to the realities of employment, making them job-ready by the time they graduate,” Dr. Usanee stated.

Opportunities for prospective Belgians were outlined during the session which included possibilities for short term courses, immersion trips, and networking activities. PIM was acknowledged as an entry point to Asia, thanks in part to CP Group’s deep experience in a wide range of industries in 20 countries, including priority countries such as Myanmar where CP has been operating livestock activities for almost 20 years.

Mr. Atit Koirala, who handles marketing for PIM’s international programs, added that students are currently coming from 13 countries, mostly from Asia. “We are eager to welcome more students to PIM from Europe,” he said, invitingly.

Following a fruitful meeting at the PIM campus with Curtin University’s Bangkok representative, Mr. Adam

The event was graced by Mr. Paul Robilliard, Ambas-sador of Australia to Thailand who encouraged alumni to enrich their lives after earning an education from Australian higher learning institutions.

Highlights of the event included a talk by Associate Professor Simon Leunig, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Curtin International. He shared Curtin University’s mas-ter plan and expressed his views on the importance of internationalization in higher education.

SPOTLIGHT ON PIM Zhejiang University selects PIM as part of study tourA member of China’s elite C9 league of universities, Zhejiang University (ZJU), visit PIM as part ZJU’s College of Education Summer Camp on 21 August 2015.

PIM was privileged to welcome delegates from one of China’s oldest and prestigious universities, Zhejiang University (ZJU), situated in the city of Hangzhou. ZJU has over 3000 faculty members, and more than 46,000 full-time students.

The group was comprised of 22 students led by Dr. Kan Yue, Associate Professor & Assistant Dean, College of Education. They were accompanied by Ms.Wannapa Pliansri from the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), a ZJU partner.

An overview of the activities of the CP Group was introduced to the students, followed by a discussion on athletic leagues, programs on entrepreneurship,

and logistics.

Delegates from Taiwan’s National Chengchi University (NCCU) visit PIMTwenty delegates from Taiwanese university, NCCU, led by Dr. Jia-Chi Huang, Professor and Chairman of the Department of Business Administration, NCCU who also serves as Director of the MBA program, visit PIM as part of their study tour in Southeast Asia.

Dr. Jia-Chi was accompanied by Dr. Li-Ming Chen, Assistant Professor, Department of Business Admin-istration, National Cheng Chi University; and Ms. Jia-Chun Chen, Project Manager, Sinyi School, National Cheng Chi University. Seventeen students joined this 7-day study tour on regional economics and industry development in Southeast Asia. The program, which includes emphasis on exploring business innovation in Southeast Asia, also works in close collaboration with the Sasin Graduate Institute of Business Admin-istration, Chulalongkorn University. The study group was welcomed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sompop Manarungsan, President; Mr. Siam Chock-sawangwong, Vice President, Administration and Vice President, CP ALL together with members of PIM’s management team.

Prof. Dr. Tang Zhimin, Dean, International College then delivered a special lecture on “Thai Economics in the ASEAN”. He mentioned Thailand’s central role in the region due to its location and strategic import and ex-port industry. The students were eager to learn about the expansion plan of 7-11 and compared the franchise penetration in Taiwan with CP ALL’s thriving business. The students were shown around campus tour par-ticularly the library, the Convergent Media Studio, classroom areas, and CP Food World. To conclude their visit, the study group was also brought to the CP RAM Food Innovation Center, a subsidiary of CP ALL that produces frozen, chilled, and baked goods distributed in 7-11 stores domestically and exported to several countries.

Two industry experts were invited to give special lectures on topics. Mr.Supat Metheeworapote, Policy and Plan Analyst attached to the Cabinet Secretary gave a talk about Thailand’s growing role as the gateway to ASEAN. This session was followed by a lecture that depicted the Thai way of business and management style by Mr. Aswin Techajareonvikul,

Mr. Aswin noted the changes in varying sectors in the region brought about by cross cultural diversity under globalization.

Following a detailed discussion about PIM’s programs and activities, Mr. Henry Nguyen Thanh Binh, FPT University’s Global Business Director said he was impressed by PIM’s study model of which has many similarities his own university’s industry focused programs. Mr. Henry added that he is looking for interesting locations to send students from FPT University to undergo meaningful internships. He also invited the PIM management team to visit FPT University during their next visit to Vietnam.

Vietnam’s FPT University draws comparison with PIM

Asia Exchange explores PIM international programsCo-founder of Asia Exchange (AE), Finland-based student exchange service provider, Mr. Harri Suominen, meets with PIM’s international networking team on 27 August 2015.

Mr. Harri, who is also Managing Director of AE was welcomed to PIM by a team led by Ms. Parichart Buakao, Assistant to the President for Organizational Communication.

A vibrant and fruitful discussion transpired covering how PIM and AE can cooperate in terms of attracting more European students to study in PIM’s short cours-es, study tours, and international programs.

Ms. Parichart noted AE’s dynamic approach and mentioned that PIM is looking to attract more international students to experience PIM’s industry focused study model. Mr. Atit Koirala, who handles marketing for international programs, added that choosing PIM could open doors to Europeans looking to enter Asia for education and even employment.

Mr. Harri commended PIM’s vision to bring more diversity to the Institute, emphasizing that CP’s business network will be seen as an advantage for aspiring exchange students and those looking for internship placements.

Pitipon’s search for the right idea to turn into a real business began when he enrolled in PIM’s international MBA program (iMBA). As an IT profes-sional, he was admittedly unsure where to begin. PIM opened Pitipon’s eyes to limitless opportunities; the network he was able to access, the friends he made, and the quality of education he experienced are all pivotal to reactivating his dream. PIM’s iMBA program instilled an entrepreneurial zest which Pitipon maximized as he developed his business plan together with expert facilitators. Soon, he launched “London Smood”, a now popular and creative ice-cream venture located in Bangkok, Thailand.

Located in Niaosong District, Kaohsiung, CSU is a private university with strengths in engineering, international trade, education, business administration, and languages.

Nineteen students were welcomed to CP-ALL and PIM on 13 July 2015. Seventeen students enrolled in business programs were assigned to intern at CP ALL while two education majors were placed in PIM’s Faculty of Liberal Arts. The group was led by Dr. Tai

Cheng Shuenn-Ren, Vice President. They were ac-companied by Mrs. Lee Wu Shu Hsin, Director; Mr. Liang Wei Chun, Assistant to Director; and Mr. Lee Yan Yi, Board Secretary.

Over twenty delegates from Cheng Shiu University (CSU),Taiwan joined a 4-week intensive internship arranged by CP-ALL and PIM from 13 July to 7 August 2015.

The program consisted of lectures covering business, politics, culture with immersion trips to MG/ Saic Motors; CPRAM Innovation Center; Thai Glico Co.,Ltd.; Thai Lotte Co.,Ltd.; Indra Ceramic; the Luxellence Center; and PIM’s Convergent Media Studio, bakery and food laboratories, and the Panyatara Training Center.

One of the highlights of the four-week program was an opportunity to meet CP ALL’s Chairman, Mr. Korsak Chairasmisak at the CP Towers on 15 July 2015. The interns were also given an appreciation course on the Go (围棋) Board-Game of Strategic Wisdom at the Panyapirom Club, VIP GO Room.

Japan’s Kansai University selects PIM as partner for Fieldwork ImmersionPIM welcomed 22 Japanese students from Kansai

As one of oldest institutions of higher learning in Japan, Kansai University (KU) proudly boasts a history and tradition engrained in Osaka, and has prospered together with the city since 1886.

The program consisted of a variety of lectures covering business and culture, and immersions at several workplaces including secondary schools, orphanages, home for the aged, and the CP ALL headquarters.

Ms. Natinee provided the pertinent details regarding the students’ internship program which will mainly be conducted at the CP ALL headquarters in Silom, Bangkok and at PIM, Chaengwattana, Nonthaburi. The two-week program will be highlighted by business training, company visits, exposition and cultural tours.

Ms. Arwenun Klipbua, Executive School Director said she impressed with CP All and PIM’s performances and growth. She also expressed her interest in PIM’s students currently enrolled in the Chinese Teaching major, who may want to explore employment at RBIS in the future.

She commended the bachelor degree program in International Modern Trade Business Management (iMTM) that PIM is planning to launch next year, 2016, noting that its focus is distinctive and attractive. She invited PIM to visit RBIS and share more details about iMTM. In concluding, Mr. Siam invited Ms. Arwenun to bring RBIS students to visit CP ALL and some of its subsidiary companies, including PIM.

PIM’s Mr. Siam Chocksawangwong, Vice President, Administration warmly welcomed the delegation from Lert Lah School, noting how both institutions may be able to supplement one another’s strengths.

Dr. Sirinun Krisnachinda, PIM’s Head of Program for Communication English for Business, Faculty of Liberal Arts provided a brief on some current activities including a volunteer project wherein PIM students enrolled in the English program hone their teaching skills in public schools, particularly at the primary level.

Other areas for collaboration include public relations, marketing, CSR development, and activities for the soon to be established Satit PIM secondary school. PIM can also act as a springboard for Lert Lah School students who are keen to learn about the CP Group and are seeking internships or employment.

The visiting group was led by Mr. Har-uhiko Yoshida, Deputy President and Representative Director, Fuji Xerox. He was accompanied by the Pres-ident of Fuji Xerox Thailand, Mr. Koji Tezuka and Mr. Sommart Bunyasunanond, Vice President and Director of the Board.

Phacharintanakul underlined the Institute’s attention to developing people through work-based education, adding that PIM’s study model is unique to Thailand due to the Institute’s strong alliances with industry partners and focus on experiential learning.

Mr. Haruhiko said that he is pleased to know that CP continues to expand. He expressed that “he strongly believes that the success of CP is because of the company’s dedication to people, industry, and Thailand.”

Leading the group during the special PIM exhibit, Mr. Siam Chocksawangwong, Vice President, Administration shared interesting facts about PIM’s developments, institutional strengths, and future plans. Dr. Usanee Kulintornprasert, Director, International explained how work-based education is utilized at PIM particularly at the bachelor degree level. Dr. Tang Zhimin, Dean, International College shared the Institute’s enthusiasm behind the international business admini stration programs being delivered in Chinese and English.

Satake Corporation to support PIM’s ideas

Mr. Shoichi Tanaka, Director, Satake Thailand, remarked that he will be happy to contribute to PIM’s idea. Internships can be made available to PIM students and programs can be developed to train PIM faculty and students to utilize Satake’s machinery and laboratory techniques particular to rice cropping, he said.

Dr. Montri Congtrakultien, Dean, Faculty of Innovative Agricultural Management expressed his appreciation and looks forward to working closely with Satake. Mr. Siam Chocksawangwong facilitated a discussion on some of the projects PIM has been developing for industry partners with Ms. Parichart Buakao and Dr. Usanee Kulintornprasert, who added that PIM’s strong networks in the region include deep relationships in the ASEAN countries.
