A Social Story for StudentsA Social Story for Students
This story is about glitches and big deals. It’s important for students in school to know the difference between the two.
A glitch is a small mistake. Sometimes when people make a small mistake, they say “oops” or “oh well.”
Another example of a glitch is when school work seems too hard, and someone feels like they can’t do all of it.
A big deal is something very important. There are good big deals like winning a race or bad big deals like being hurt in an accident.
Most people don’t have too many big deals in life. Someone who has a big deal is usually excited. The person might get very happy or very upset, depending on the big deal.
Glitches are never big deals. They are small mistakes. The best way to deal with a glitch is to say “oops” or “oh well, it’s only a glitch.”
When there is a glitch, we can think about our choices. We can ask for help, ask for a break, ask to do something else for a little while, or take a deep breath and keep trying.
At School, the adults are there to help. Adults are good at solving problems when there is a glitch. That’s part of their job.
