Glimpses of Grace
November 2019
Friends of Grace,
Our Joy is “Sharing Christ’s Love, Grace and Community with You”. This gives us our focus.
In November, we get to celebrate Thanksgiving. What a joy it is to give thanks to God for all that has
been done. One of our expressions of thanks will be our yearly Commitment Sunday on the 17th. Each of
us will be asked to consider our financial commitment for the upcoming year to the wonderful ministry
here at Grace.
In December, we will celebrate Advent and Christmas. The sermon series will be “The First Carols of
Christmas”. This is actually the beginning of what we call the Christian year. November is actually the
conclusion of the Christian year.
As we enjoy being the church during these next couple months may we be found faithful. We are called
to be Grace to this community. It is a pleasure to follow God’s call with people like you.
May you be embraced by Grace,
Pastor Randy

With Christmas right around the corner, our
children will be filling Operation Christmas
Child shoeboxes with toys, hygiene items, and
school supplies. The shoeboxes are then sent
around the world along with the message of
Jesus.
We will be asking for these donations in the
near future. Information will be in the Bulletin
and on our displays in the Narthex.
Blessings,
Jan Grimm

Kitchen/Community News This month we pause to give thanks for our many blessings. One of our November
highlights is the annual Church Turkey Dinner to be held on Wednesday, November
20th at 5:30pm.
Reservations are required and we will begin taking those at the Church Family Night
Meals beginning on Wednesday, October 30th, November 3rd, 6th,10th, and 13th.
You don’t want to miss this evening of great food and fellowship!
POINTS OF INTEREST:
Little White Church is a ministry of Missions.
C.O.D.E. is a Bible Study for youth 7th - 12th grades
Grace Notes is a Children’s choir
K.I.C.K. is a program for children pre-school - 6th grade
Psalm 95:2-3 says, “Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him
with music and song. For the Lord is the great God, the King above all gods.”
The Kitchen/Community Committee
Thanks to everyone who supported the collection for Family Promise of Butler County.
We will start our annual food collection for Thanksgiving on Sunday, October 20th and end
with “Fruit Sunday” on November 24th. On Monday, November 25th we will be sorting food
and packing 60 boxes. Mark your calendars to come and help! The families will pick up
their Thanksgiving Boxes on Tuesday, November 26th.
Please buy only the following food items for our Thanksgiving Boxes (it makes our job a lot
easier): Stove Top Stuffing, boxed cake mix, can of frosting, canned green beans and corn
(not creamed). Extra items we could include would be: cereal, soup, rice/noodles, boxed
macaroni & cheese, canned tuna, peanut butter & jelly.
Please remember this is a Thanksgiving Dinner Donation, not a pantry re-stock. Also,
no opened, half-used, or expired food products.
The Missions Committee buys turkeys, potatoes, eggs, bread, and butter for each box. If
you would like to make a monetary donation, please, designate “Missions Thanksgiving
Food Collection on the donation envelope.
As always thank you for your generous donations this time of year,
The Missions Committee
Hello from the Worship Committee,
It’s now November and our thoughts turn towards Thanksgiving and
Christmas. Take time to enjoy God’s blessings throughout the upcoming
holiday season.
Veterans Day is November 11th, Commitment and Stewardship
Sunday is the 17th. Thanksgiving dinner will again be provided by our
regionally known team of ladies on November 20th, with the Charge
Conference meeting in the sanctuary immediately following. Everyone is
welcome, but you will need a ticket for dinner. Thanksgiving is November
28th, and we will hang the greens on November 30th at 9:00am. Coffee
and donuts provided before we start. If you’ve never participated in this
celebration, give it a try this year. The fellowship is super and you’ll be
part of making the church festive for the birth of our Savior.
Remember the capital improvement projects in your prayers and
donations. These projects are vital to the life of our beautiful church
campus to spread the word of God to our community.
Sincerely,
Jeff Shaw

Church Library Corner Happy November! This is a great time to curl up with a good book and a cup of
something warm and comforting. Speaking about great books, we have a series of books by Charles
Swindoll which is part of his Great Lives from God's Word series on tap for you this month. We have all
8 books in the series which focuses on the lives of: Esther: A Woman of Strength and Dignity, Joseph: A
Man of Integrity and Forgiveness, Job: A Man of Heroic Endurance, Paul: A Man of Grit and Grace,
Moses: A Man of Selfless Dedication, Elijah: A Man of Heroism and Humanity, Fascinating Stories of the
Forgotten Lives of: Cain, Abraham, Esau, Achan, Samuel, Saul, Abigail, Naaman, Absalom, Rehoboam,
Jabez, Gehazi and Uzziah (all in one volume) and the final book in the series, Jesus: The Greatest Life
of All! Swindoll combines Biblical facts with life application to the lives of these Biblical characters. So
come on to the library and grab a book or two!l
We are also in possession of a book from the historical life of Grace Church from the personal library
of Henry Maag, who was pastor of Grace Church from September 1, 1925 to September 1, 1933
entitled, The Book of A Thousand Tongues, which was part of the original library of Grace Church.
Thank you for all your many donations, we have amassed a nice collection of Christmas books, which
we will feature in our December Glimpses. Thank you for all your kind words about our library and for
using and returning our books in a timely fashion!
Happy Reading,
Arline Wenning
Greetings from the Loft!
The choir is moving forward through Fall, learning a new anthem for Thanksgiving, mixing older
anthems in as well, while we work on our new cantata, "Come Let Us Adore".
The more I listen to the cantata the more I love it and you will too! We will present the cantata
on December 15th during Sunday morning service with Jeff Shaw narrating. There are two solos to be
sung by Kari Shaw and Kelli Jo Chenoweth. Can you tell I'm excited about it?
Musical Blessings,
Tami Thompson
