What is Glide?

Developed in 2013, Glide is a video messaging app that allows users to send and receive short videos.

Unlike video chat, Glide gives users the option of viewing videos live (as they are recorded) or later at the user’s convenience.

Glide Features

Glide allows users to watch, send, and receive videos at their convenience without requiring friends to be online.

Glide starts sending the video message the moment the user begins recording, eliminating the need to preview, edit, and upload clips.

Users can create and share video messages with individual friends and groups as well as other social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter.

All Glide video clips are stored in the cloud, so they do not consume storage space on devices and gives users anytime access to recorded clips.

Available for iPods and iPhones with iOS6+

Available for devices with Android 2.3+

Glide requires a 3G, LTE, or Wi-Fi connection to use. After downloading the App, users need to setup their

account. Using your phone number, Glide finds friends based on your

contact list. Adding a profile photo helps people recognize your account

and makes it easier to chat with friends and groups.

Using Glide

To start a video message, users should choose from their friend list or select the “Create Group” option. Glide separates friends by when

they were added. The friend bottom at the top

right allows users to browse friends in alphabetical order.

The camera in the top right switches between front and rear cameras.

The “T” in the Bottom left hand corner allows users to input text.

The camera at the bottom starts recording.

Glide allows users to send video clips up to 90 seconds long. After the timer reaches 90 seconds, the video clip

automatically sends to recipient. Glide clips are stored via cloud services and are

accessible to both sender and recipient. Once deleted, Glide clips are no longer available to

either sender or recipient.

Users who plan to share media with other social networks should also consult that social network’s privacy policy.
