Winter Sport - Terms 2 & 3 - 2020

** The following information should be read before nominating your child for sport **

Introduction

This is your guide for children and parents regarding after hours sports offered in Winter during Terms 2 and 3, for Years Reception to 7 at Glenelg Primary School. Winter Sports

Winter sports are played during Terms 2 and 3. This means that if you play football, you must be prepared to play football in both Term 2 and Term 3.

If your child chooses to pull out in Term 3 there will be no refund.

Winter Sports played during Terms 2 and 3 are:

• Basketball, Football, Netball, Soccer, Tennis and Indoor Volleyball – (Volleyball Yr 4/5 and 6/7 only)

The attached schedule details age requirements, team size, when and where they play etc. Trainings are decided by the coach once teams are established.

Coaches and Team Managers - We Need You!!

If you are considering a role of coach/manager you will receive a folder with players’ names and contacts before the commencement of the season. If a volunteer coach/manager is not found by the beginning of the season, the team will unfortunately be withdrawn. As a coach you will be well supported and informed along the way.

Coaches/managers/volunteers will also be required to have completed their Volunteer Application. The steps required are on our school website. It does take a few weeks for the process from start to finish but your time in doing it

should be around an hour (and will not need to be undertaken again after that):

https://www.glenelgps.sa.edu.au/for-parents/volunteers/

Please give some thought to the support role you may be able to offer on a full time or shared basis as sports will be

required to have one of each to go ahead (except volleyball).

The DECD police clearance part of the application is paid for by the School. Please email Anthony Fischer with your full name/DOB/email address/name of

child/room number/reason (coaching): [email protected]

to start the clearance application process as soon as you know you will be involved. The police clearance is valid for 3 years.

Payment

Registration Forms must be submitted with payment to the Front Office by Week 6, Monday 2nd March to establish teams as games commence early in Term 2.

If you require an extension for payment of any sport, please speak to our Business Manager in the front office. Late Registrations

Children who submit late registrations will only be included in a team if a vacancy exists. Where there are too many children registering for a sport and limited coaches, children will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. Uniform

All children representing the school in sport are expected to wear their school uniform polo shirt, other than basketball where a singlet with number is required (purchase from the uniform shop). (Football guernseys are provided by the school.) Code of Conduct

All students/managers/coaches/coordinators must fill out a Code of Conduct form and are expected to abide by the DECD Sport Policy. These forms will be available from the sports coordinator.

All games will be played in the rain and will

only be cancelled in the event of

hail/lightening. Please see the Sport at

Glenelg Facebook page for Weather Policy

Payment may be made via the Qkr App – please note your payment number on your child’s

registration form when returning it to the office.
