Cyber Safety – This week there is another fact sheet included in the newsletter. This week’s is titled ‘ask.fm’. I hope that this is yet another helpful self-help guide for internet users. Next week’s fact sheet will be about ‘INSTAGRAM’. NAIDOC Day 2017 – History and Aboriginal languages – (coordinated by Sydney Learning Adventures sponsored by NSW Govt). Our 2016 NAIDOC Day was a great success. For 2017 we are looking to take this activity to a ‘next level’. As part of NAIDOC celebration we are looking to have students experience ‘Ngara’ – Aboriginal History and Languages. The experience would be (probably) offered to all students K-6 and will see students travel to The Rocks for the learning activities. Naturally all classes will have lead-up activities and follow-up activities following the excursion – this is a great opportunity for our students. Parent helpers will be an essential part of the day’s activities and notes in the new year will give all parents more information. There are other activities that we are also looking at and as soon as we have confirmed these, we will let all parents know. Thank you to Mrs Bateup and Mrs France for their efforts in organising these events related to Aboriginal education. ‘Smoke-Free guide – No smoking within 4 metres of a pedestrian access point to a building’. I would ask that parents observe the new guidelines in this brochure and do not smoke within 4 metres of any of our school gates. Yours faithfully, Doug Meaney Principal

PAYMENTS When sending payments to school please ensure the CORRECT AMOUNT of money is enclosed in a separate envelope for each activity. PLEASE PUT ONLY ONE ACTIVITY IN EACH ENVELOPE. (If more than one activity is placed in an envelope your child may miss out on participating). Clearly mark each envelope with:
• your child’s name • your child’s class • name of activity
