OVERVIEW
See the big picture and let others see you seeing it. It’s about learning and
teaching. It’s about engagement. If you are seen only as the one who closes up for inventory, as the book chaser, and
NOT as the CIO, the inventor, the creative force, you won’t be seen as a
big picture person.

Students completing LSC 220 will become familiar with and engage in new and emerging technologies in libraries revolving around Web 2.0 tools.
GOALS/OBJECTIVES
Learn—Every week students are directed to learn about the technology by going to the class blog and watching a video, a slideshow, or reading articles about the technology.
Explore—Every week students explore the new technology by creating their own through the use of instructions posted on the class blog
Apply—Every week students are required to post to either the discussion area on WebCt or to the class blog what they have learned and how they would apply it in their own library.
ACTIVITIES
Week #1 Web 2.0 & Library 2.0 Students watch Library 2.0 Manifesto video and Web 2.0
video and post feelings/comments to discussion area.
Week #2 Avatars
Students follow directions on Class Blog:

to create their own avatar.
Week #2 Social Bookmarking Students watch video Social Bookmarking in Plain English Students follow directions on Class Blog to create a delicious
account.
Week #3 Blogging Students follow directions on class blog to
learn, explore, and apply
Students continue developing their blog and learn about adding widgets
Week #4 Adding Bling to Your Blog
Students are assessed weekly based on completion of weekly activities and participation in
discussions either on WebCt or on the class blog
