THE COMPANYHilgenberg GmbH was founded about 1913 in Stützerbach in the Thuringian

Forest – a region well known for its long tradition in glass manufacture. At

that time, it was probably unimaginable that almost 100 years later the com-

pany would be developing and producing glass products with extremely

tight manufacturing tolerances in the micrometer range.

Today, three generations later, the company is still family-owned, and is an

innovative and valuable development partner, supplier, and service provider

for more than 3000 customers worldwide – from research institutes and

universities to large corporations in the chemical, medical, pharmaceutical,

automotive, and aerospace industries.

And we have visions: With the purchase and integration of Löwinger GmbH,

a German glass producer and machine manufacturer with a long tradition, we

have expanded our competences. With this purchase, we have strengthened

our technical abilities, increased our production capacities, and accepted

responsibility for our company‘s future growth.

Modern production methods, efficient administration, and services close to

the customer: From our central locations in Germany, we supply products

and services to customers all over the world. This means that every working

step is carried out exclusively by our own highly qualified employees – from

development through production up to final inspection. Thanks to this “glass

clear production”, we are able to guarantee the consistent high quality of our

products.

MANY COMPETENCES FROM

A SINGLE SUPPLIERWe already offer our customers about 20.000 product versions for countless

applications – and new products are being added continuously. Apart from

manufacturing, we also provide additional services such as the development

of prototypes, preparation of drawings, technical proposals, plus competent

advice in all aspects of glass processing.

For example, we consult our customers in the optimization of various glass

processing operations, train their employees with special techniques for hand-

ling glass, as well as developing entirely new products to customer specifica-

tions. Product ideas and new developments resulting from this cooperation are

implemented together with our customers, and are then included in standard

production procedures. The synergies obtained in this way enable us to develop

products that precisely meet the next new specifications from our customers.

Individually matched services combined with high manufacturing flexibility and

short delivery times – competences that are appreciated by our customers.

Also in future, our aim will be to produce innovative and high-quality glass

MALSFELD · PLANT I

Hilgenberg GmbH is headquartered in Malsfeld near Kassel. Apart from the

company‘s administration, a small, highly specialized part of production is

also located here.

MÜNNERSTADT · PLANT III

Our latest Site III emerged from Löwinger GmbH, an established and tradi-

tional German glass processor and manufacturer of glass machines, and is

designed for series production as well as the manufacture of complex com-

ponents formed of tubular glass.

WALDKAPPEL · PLANT II

In the 1960’s, Hilgenberg GmbH expanded their production capacity in a

new factory in Waldkappel, about 30 km away from company headquarters

in Malsfeld. This is where our ultra-modern production facilities are located.

We offer a wide range of products – from simple glass beads in dispersing and grinding systems up to high-grade, optically

polished spherical lenses for medical technology. Apart from manufacturing transparent beads, we can also provide beads

with coloured surfaces or made of solid coloured glass.

LAB ON CHIPA Lab-on-Chip is a product, that integrates one or several laboratory tasks on a single chip of only millimeters to a few square

centimeters in size. Lab-on-Chips deal with the handling of extremely small fluid volumes, down to less than one picoliter.

The chips are available in sizes suitable for microscopes and can be easily used for applications with standard microscopes.

About 60 years of experience in the manufacture of glass capillaries, and an average of more than 1000 sizes in stock,

with diameters from 0,05 to 10 mm, enable us to respond quickly and directly to your requests. Many different geometries

and types of glass are available.

Glass rods made of different types of glass, tubular or profiled: We can supply practically everything – from semi-finished

material to final product. In addition to our possibilities for processing tubes and cylinders, we can also supply customized rods.

No bending or deformation while pipetting: Glass pipettes are the high-quality alternative to plastic pipettes. They are inert,

resistant to acids and lyes, and can be sterilized with all conventional methods. A special version for gamma sterilization is also

available.

Glass packing material is featured by its outstanding chemical resistance, which in turn leads to a long service life. Other

advantages: Smooth outer surfaces provide minimum possibilities for permanent adhesions. Depending on glass type, fast

temperature changes as well as high operating temperatures are also possible. In addition to classical Raschig rings as packing

material, we also supply spheres and glass spirals with particularly large outer surfaces.

Hilgenberg provides glass tubes and cylinders in all sizes and dimensions, and in various types of glass –

as plain semi-finished material or as final products and trimmed to precision. Our cold and hot working procedures

permit us to manufacture practically any kind of product you require.

ASSEMBLY & JOINING TECHNOLOGYOn request, our factory will also handle the complete assembly of your components into which our glass products are fitted –

from scheduling the parts up to shipment. In our Waldkappel factory, we already manufacture various modules and sub-

assemblies for long-standing customers.

SIGHT GLASSESTHIN GLASS FLAKES

Sight glasses can be produced from various materials, such as Borofloat glass, normal float glass, quartz glass, and other

types, which we have in stock as sheet material. Regardless of whether a simple sight glass or a complex cover cut out of

highly transparent glass, our panes protect your delicate sensors.

GLASS SPIRALSWe manufacture glass spirals in a wide range of shapes and sizes. Apart from the classical round forms, we also supply

square, rectangular, or triangular types. A characteristic feature of all glass spirals is a glass rod that is coiled in a continuous

longitudinal direction. Hereby, different winding pitches are possible, as well as different diameters and wall thicknesses.
