Trenchless CIPP liner solutions are current-ly the safest, most economical, and most sustainable approach to rehabilitating sewer systems. Compared to traditional open-trench procedures, this minimal-ly invasive technology not only avoids the need to excavate uncountable cubic meters of soil, but also prevents traffic jams and noise. Whether on inner-city roads with heavy traffic, on rough terrain in rural areas, during rehabilitation projects in confined spaces within factory halls, or in the mountains: So far, the Alphaliner has already proven its strengths in rehabilitation projects conducted in more than 50 different countries.

Clean and Safe Installation

Installing and curing the Alphaliner are characterized by how easy it is to handle on the job site and how swiftly the entire construction project is subse-quently completed. In just one operation, up to 350 meters of drainage pipe can be rehabilitated. The pipe is once again ready for use in hardly no time at all. Traffic congestion, noise and pollution caused by construction sites are all significantly reduced.

Minimal CO2-Emissions

Sewer rehabilitation using the Alphaliner is energy efficient and causes only minimal CO2 emissions. Due to the swift completion of construction work, impediments for residents and traf fic are also reduced to a minimum. Handling of chemicals and resins at the job site has become obsolete, as well as the very energy consuming process of heating water. Generally, even the rehabilitation of long sewer sections can be completed within a single working day, making this method ideal for projects in densely populated urban areas.

Preparation of the pipe to be rehabilitated by cleaning and milling (if necessary) it. Introduc-tion of a TV camera to assess the condition of the pipe.

Installation of the liner: With the help of a winch or, if necessary, a conveyor belt, the Alphaliner is inserted into the manhole and drawn into the pipe section to be rehabilitated. In case you are not using an Alphaliner with integrated sliding foil or integrated pre-liner, you have to install a protective sliding foil first. Using the TV camera, make sure the liner is in the right position.

Curing the liner using an UV light source and a special UV lamp. The curing process is evaluated and documented online, based on curing parameters which are measured.

Leak testing and the taking of a sample from the job site to be submitted for quality testing

Completion: Connect the ends of the liner to the manhole and milling out entry points from connecting consumer inlets with the help of a milling robot. The connection of the liner to lateral inlets is achieved by using a top-hat profile and grouting technique. TV camera inspection for complete documentation.

Sewer rehabilitation with the help of the Alphaliner and appropriate UV curing technology is quick and efficient. The following example describes the rehabilitation of a nominal diameter of DN 300 with 4.4mm composite wall thickness, covering a section length of 150 meters.

Clean and Safe Installation

One of the most important factors for successful rehabilitation projects is the uniform impregnation of the liner along its entire length. To achieve this even distribution, a special, unique glass fiber complex is used for the Alphaliner. Prior to the actual production of the liner, the glass fibers are pre-impregnated with the most suitable resin selected for each project.As soon as the resin has reached its required level of viscosity, it is wound into a seamless hose in an endless continuous production process. During this process, the glass fiber is applied directly to the inner foil. This unique winding process makes it possible to produce hose liners with an individual length of up to 500 meters or more.

As there is no seam and due to deliberate undersizing, the liner can expand far more flexibly, homogeneously and, most importantly, without creasing. Its distinctive sandwich design allows us to manufacture different types of liners with individual, precisely defined properties.

Unique

Defined Protective Wear Course for Long-lasting Rehabilitation

The Alphaliner has a unique protective wear course with a defined strength, which is attached to the interior surface of the liner, thereby complying with the requirements specified in DWA-A 143-3 and DIN EN ISO 11296-4. The Alphaliner‘s protective wear course does not count as part of the composite wall thickness (the part of the composite liner wall which is structurally relevant). In the case of the Alphaliner500G it consists of a particularly stable, resin-saturated glass vylene and has a thickness of at least 0.3 mm. In the case of the Alphaliner1800H, it consists of a high-quality polyester vylene with a strength of no less than 0.5 mm.

This protective wear course is at least twice as thick as the abrasion resistance established by the Darmstadt Tipping Trough Trial and protects the Alphaliner against mechanical wear and stress, e.g. during high-pressure flushing. Subsequently, the Alphaliner has a lot of safety reserves ensuring a long service life of typically 50 years or more.

Every rehabilitation project comes with its own specific requirements. No two pipes are alike, no two types of wastewater are comparable. The

“one-size-fits-all” liner, which works in every case, simply does not exist.

For this reason, RELINEEUROPE offers various types of liners for each specific situation. They differ with respect to the ECR glass fiber properties employed, the orientation of the glass fibers, and the composition of the resins used. Therefore, they each have different mechanical features.

Especially the chemical resistance requirements are decisive when it comes to choosing the right liner type. Industrial drainage water is generally far more aggressive than municipal wastewater. Therefore, RELINEEUROPE provides optimized sector-specific solutions for municipalities and industries, using different artificial resin systems. Polyester resins (UP) are mainly used in the re-habilitation of municipal wastewater pipes, highly resistant premium vinyl ester resins (VE) mostly for industrial rehabilitation projects.

Within these sector-specific solutions, the Alphaliner-500G and Alphaliner1800H each have unique qualit ies which allow a further dif ferentiation, making them an ideal match for every rehabilitation project.

Alphaliner500G

Fast and Cost-Effective Rehabilitation of Small- and Medium-Sized Dimensions

The Alphaliner500G is ideal for the fast and efficient installation in small- and medium-sized sewer pipes with a nominal range from DN 150 to DN 500. This Alphaliner is extremely transparent to UV light and comes with good mechanical properties. Its design allows for high curing speeds of up to 120 meters/hour, ensuring very cost-effective, safe, and durable rehabilitation.

Alphaliner1800HFor Demanding Structural Requirements and Rehabilitation of Large Profiles

The Alphaliner1800H was designed to withstand the highest structural loads, making it possible to specifically rehabilitate pipes with large dimensions, while remaining cost-effective. It is produced using the ECR glass fiber “Ultrapipe”, which is tailormade for UV-curing. This glass fiber increases the trans-parency of the material, thus ensuring that the liner is properly cured all the way through. In combination with high-quality resins, this new generation of materials delivers one-of-a-kind technical proper-ties. During rehabilitation, a liner pipe is formed which is highly resistant and very resilient when it comes to extreme structural and dynamic loads.

Specialty Solutions

In addition to the sector -specif ic solutions for municipalities and industry, RELINEEUROPE also offers a range of liner types for special applications. For job sites with particularly strict emission re-quirements, we recommend the AlphalinerECO as an option made with styrene-free resin. If you are planning to rehabilitate pipes in sensitive areas, chose the AlphalinerHP, a reinforced CIPP liner with a unique sandwich design and a resin-rich dou-ble wall on the back. The AlphalinerESD is the first electrostatic discharging CIPP liner in the world. The AlphalinerPN was developed specifically for pressurized pipes.

All Alphaliners can be furnished with an integrated sliding foil or an integrated pre-liner, which speed up the construction time required, while increasing the safety of the rehabilitation project at the same time.

Highly Resistant Resin System

For the AlphalinerUP, a specifically designed pol-yester resin is used, which distinguishes itself through a high degree of resistance to municipal sewages (UP; classified in accordance with DIN EN 13121 in Group 4; DIN 16946-2 Type 1140; DIN 18820 Group 3). The ECR glass fiber utilized is particularly corrosion resistant.

Able to Withstand the Greatest Structural Loads

The Alphaliner has been approved by all relevant authori t ies (including Deutsches Inst i tut für Bautechnik (DIBt) , Germany, CSTB France, QUiK Switzer land, WRc UK, ASTM1216 and ASTM2019 USA) . The A lpha l iner500G - UP and Alphaliner1800H-UP each have excellent mechanical proper t ies. Thereby ful f i l l ing al l requirements regarding quality of material and able withstand the greatest structural loads despite their comparatively thin wall strengths.

T h e U V - c u r i n g C I P P l i n e r s y s t e m A lphalinerVE, made with high- qualit y premium vinyl ester resin, was specif-ically developed for the rehabilitation of industrial drainage systems. Industrial wastewaters are far more c h e m i c a l l y a n d t h e r m a l l y c o n t a m i -nated than municipal sewage waters and come in many di ver se composi -tions. The material of the CIPP system AlphalinerVE was specifically designed to meet these high demands and en-sures the safet y required for a long ser vice li fe of the rehabilitated pipe.

Highly Resistant Premium Vinyl Ester Resin

What makes the AlphalinerVE new and unique, is the use of a highly resistant premium vinyl ester resin. Its most distinctive features being its high degree of resistance to thermal and chemical stresses as well as i ts excellent mechanical properties regarding rigidity and elongation at break.

For this Alphaliner we utilize an ECR glass fiber which is highly resistant to corrosion and chemicals, in combination with a chemical -resistant vinyl ester resin (VE) classified in accordance with DIN EN 13121 in Group 7b and DIN 16946-2 Type 1310.

The Alphaliner500G-VE and Alphaliner 1800H-VE each have excellent mechanical properties and are classified by different material grades in compliance with DWA-M 144-3. Minimum Limitations of Production due to Rapid Execution of Rehabilitation

The AlphalinerESD is classified as electrostatic discharging according to TRGS727 (avoidance of ignition hazards resulting from electro-static charges) and DIN EN 64340–5 (protection of electronic components). The AlphalinerESD is perfectly suited for the rehabilitation of drainage pipes in the chemical and oil industries as well as for companies active in the power, environmental and electrical industries.

Stand-Alone Liner

The AlphalinerPN is a liner for pressure pipes in accordance with DIN EN ISO 11295 Class A. Due to its design, it is a structurally self-supporting liner (stand-alone pipe liner), which means that it does not depend on the host pipe and can bear its own structural loads.

Structurally seamless, thermoplastic interior coating

The AlphalinerPN‘s patented, seamless, vylene-based, thermoplastic interior coating is the only one of its kind in the entire world. It forms a bond with the structurally loadbearing glass complex. Therefore, this Alphaliner can permanently withstand enormous pressures of up to 16 bar.

Inherently, the AlphalinerPN is also capable of re-sisting the constantly alternating pressure loads which persist in wastewater pressure pipes. During fatigue strength tests, conducted following the Wöhler Test for Vibration Endurance in compliance with DIN 50100, and in line with requirements issued by Hamburg Wasser, applying pressures of 10 bar, the AlphalinerPN showed no signs of water loss, so called „weeping“, during the entire course of testing. Af ter a total number of 107 pressure alternation cycles, no damages to the AlphalinerPN were found.

The abrasion properties of the AlphalinerPN were also tested in accordance with the DIN EN 295-3

„Darmstadt Tipping Trough Test“, followed by a high-pressure flushing test in line with DIN 19523. After 100,000 alternating load cycles, the average abrasion recorded was 0.06 mm, which is basically impossible to measure. Following the specifications of the standard, the same material is additionally subjected to high-pressure flushing with an intensity of 450 watt/mm². The AlphalinerPN fulfilled all requirements set out in the standards.

Ready-to-Install Delivery to the Job site

The AlphalinerPN is delivered to the job site directly ready for installation. All process steps required for thermal curing, such as mixing of the resin, saturation, and impregnation of the material at the job site itself, become obsolete. Due to in-factory manufacturing of the liner, the quality of the product remains steady and high.

The installed liner is only as good as the UV system used to cure it. It is only due to permanent monitoring and, if necessary, readjustment of the power output of the UV lamps that curing in line with the specifications can be guaranteed.

Especially for large diameters and thick wall strengths, the curing technology plays a particularly important role. RELINEEUROPE has developed the UV curing system REE4000 specially to meet the requirements of large profiles. The REE4000 has an electronically extendable UV core, with an intensity of up to 6 x 4000 W, thanks to which the UV lamps can be positioned in an offset fashion, providing a large radiation surface even within very large diameters. This is decisive to thoroughly cure the entire laminate.

Quality Assurance as our Highest Principle

Only once the liner has been installed at the job site, the product hose liner is completed. RELINEEUROPE has set up a unique Total Quality Management System (TQM), which is unparalleled in this sector of industry. It includes the monitored and controlled management of quality along the entire value chain - beginning with the raw material all the through to the fully cured Alphaliner, installed at the job site. The TQM is the bedrock for unvarying and high quality in all of RELINEEUROPE‘s production areas. The qualified installation companies are fully integrated in our TQM system.

With the help of the TQM, all relevant material-, production- and transport-related areas as well as the installation results, and the installers‘ feedback from each of the job sites is incorporated into our system. The results of the material tests, conducted on the job site samples, are recorded, and saved in a database. They are reviewed and analyzed regu-larly. These results are used to optimize production and job site installation, as well as for an analytical exchange with our Alphaliner installation partners to identify further room for enhancement.

Through its RELINE-ACADEMY, RELINE-EUROPE of fers an extensive education and training program customized to meet the needs of both: those who work in the field as well as for planers and developers.

Executing companies and planning engineers are facing increasingly challenging requirements when it comes to the application of modern rehabilita-tion technologies for canal and pipe rehabilitation.

To support RELINEEUROPE‘s partners in keeping up with the newest technological and standardization developments in the market, a hands-on further ed-ucation and training program was created, focusing specifically on trenchless sewer rehabilitation. It covers UV-curing CIPP liners, UV technologies, pipe robots as well as providing comprehensive product expertise in theory and practice. The programs are customized to the needs of technical rehabil-itation specialists, job site managers, and project managers. Training programs on leadership and management as well as individual inhouse seminars round off our education and training portfolio.

A l l courses and seminars take place at the RELINEACADEMY in Rohrbach, Germany. Inhouse trainings take place on-site at the local sewer rehabilitation company. Experienced instructors, engineers, and technical experts teach the courses. Theoretical content is always embedded in practical context.
