• Pre-Games impact – Impacts first start to occur as the region prepares its bid for the event, but become more significant after the event is awarded. These impacts mainly relate to the investment and other preparatory activities required to stage the 2014 Games. In some cases, tourism could also start to pick up in advance due to the higher profile of the host city;
