AbouT HoneyliTeHoneyCoMb: The "honeycomb" material that is the basis of our products was originally developed as a low density-high strength core for structural use, primarily for the aircraft industry. utilizing it's intrinsic characteristics, we have developed a family of effective and versatile glare control devices.

ReDuCe GlARe: Honeylite louvers help control brightness from a variety of light sources. Whether you are a lighting designer or a manufacturer, we can help you control glare. From MR11 point sources to studio high output fluorescent fixtures, we have louvers and accessories tailored to the application

leADTiMeS: Honeylite products are primarily produced on a made-to-order basis. While some popular products are available from stock, leadtimes range from 2-4 weeks and depend on quantities. Products like MR16 louvers and accessories are available typically in 2 weeks, while framed louvers made to a customer’s specifications have 4 week leadtimes.

HoneyliTe bASiCSThe degree of cut-off or shielding is determined by the honeycomb cell diameter and depth, as shown below in the table and in the illustration at right. Specific products will require specific cell and depth dimensions. For example, an MR16 louver uses a 1/8" x .125 louver which gives a 45 degree cut-off. Consult the factory for special cut-off requirements.

note that because of the thin material used to make our louvers, all Honeylite louvers offer high "open area." This means you can achieve glare control with very little loss of light. open areas are shown in the table below.

Honeylite louvers and accessories are available in a Milbrite (Mlb) clear aluminum finish or black (blK). Machined parts such as an MR16 Holder have a black anodized finish. All other parts are coated with our proprietary polymer coating, borden black. our polymer coating chemically grafts to the substrate, has superior abrasion resistance while being able to withstand 350°F with no out-gassing and has very low VoC's. (note that some accessory parts are supplied with a finely textured powder coat.) Standard finish is eggshell.

TeMPeRATuRe liMiTATionS: Honeylite louvers can withstand temperatures up to 350°F, meeting the need of most lamp sources. operating at higher temperatures for extended periods of time will result in the louver blades separating.

The Honeylite MR16 Clip-on Holder is a compact and economical solution to glare control. The metal holder clips on to the MR16 lamp and will hold either a Honeylite Louver or any lens. The holder provides a ventilation gap to reduce bulb temperature. Note that the holder will hold only one glare control device.

The Honeylite Snoot traps all the peripheral light, concentrating the beam. Snoots require a holder and are available in a Milbrite (MLB) or Black Satin (BLK) finish.

The Glass Shade accessory makes a decorative element out of a bare lamp, at the same time it blocks lamp back light. Glass shade comes with a stainless steel retainer ring that secures the shade and/or baffle.

Note: Glass Shades are only available in Deep Blue.

Clip-on Barndoors trap peripheral sideways light and add visual interest. The clip-on Baffle also limits peripheral sideways light with a different style of device.

Barndoors are adjustable by rotation and by bending the “living hinges”. Note that they may be doubled-up to provide 4-way glare control. Available in Fine Textured Matte Black (BLK) or Matte Grey (GRY)

The Honeylite LP Series are designed to snap-on to PAR lamps, including the Designer 16 lamp. All LP Series are supplied with a 1/4 x 235 louver for 45° cut-off. Holders are made from cold-rolled steel. The holder and louver are finished with our black proprietary polymer coating in an eggshell finish. The Honeylite AR Series provides solutions to the spill light that is inherent in most aluminum reflector (AR) lamps.

Honeylite L Series Spring-Clip Louvers are lightweight and economical. These louvers have 95° open area and are available with 45° or 60° cut-off. (Refer to Honeylite Basics.) L Series louvers are for use with a variety of fixtures or recessed fixtures. Frames are made from 1/2” cold-rolled steel and have 3 spring clips as shown, for easy installation.

Standard finish is our black proprietary polymer coating with an eggshell finish.

The Honeylite SL Series framed louvers are designed to fit into the top of wall sconces. The 45° cut-off blocks sightlines from elevated viewing angles. In addition to the louvers listed below, custom louvers can be manufactured for round, partial round, square and rectangular sconces.
