What? Give it a Go is all about trying something new!Get involved in a wide range of weird and wonderful activities on a no commitment, no strings attached basis. You can do as few or as many activities as you like.
When? Give It A Go now runs throughout the year with this particular programme running throughout semester 2. Tickets will be on sale from January 10th at the Students’ Union reception between 9am-5pm Monday to Friday.
How? Decide what you want to do, buy your ticket from the Students’ Union. Go along to the event and Give it a Go

Women’s Football Taster Train with the women’s football team and see if you fancy joining them. The SU enters 2 women’s football teams into the British Universities league, BUCS.

Mixed Hockey TasterWe have a men’s and a women’s hockey team at UCLan – try out with them for free and join for the second semester if you enjoy it!

Women’s Rugby UnionGive women’s rugby a go! Training is on a Monday and games take place on a Wednesday afternoon.

AthleticsThe Athletics club enter a variety of competitions throughout the year, and train on a Monday evening. Try it out for free.

NetballTaster session for the netball team – we currently have 3 netball teams who enter the BUCS league.

Anime & Manga TasterAnime refers to the animation style originated in Japan. It is characterized by distinctive characters and backgrounds (hand-drawn or computer generated) that visually and thematically set it apart from other forms of animation. Manga is the Japanese term for comics, and the styles involve exaggerating physical features amongst other things. Harrington 320, 5 – 8.30pm Free
Tuesday 17th January
Martial Art DisplayNot 1, not 2, not 3 but 4 martial art clubs will be entertaining the crowds in the Union tonight! Pop down to witness an unmissable display of martial arts and later in the week there will be opportunities to try the sports, don’t miss out!

Active Lifestyles Fair (Burnley)An active lifestyles fair at Burnley giving information on how to become more active and lead a healthier lifestyle. Including BMI and blood pressure checks, advice on diet and alcohol consumption etc.

Scottish Highlands TripWe will travel to the Scottish Highlands on Friday afternoon, passing by Loch Lomond, stopping off at various beauty spots/sites of historic interest en-route to the hauntingly beautiful Pass of Glen-coe, imbued with a rich and at times tragic history.
On the Saturday, after breakfast in nearby Fort William, there will be various options, dependent on the group and weather – a loch side walk. exploring the Pass of Glencoe and heading up into the mountains being some of the options. On the Sunday, again after breakfast in Fort William, we will travel up the Great Glen, where we will visit the UK’s longest lake, Loch Ness, looking out for Nessie of course! Transport, accommodation and guiding is included in the price, but no food is - people will need mon-ey to eat in the pub, or food for the first night; after this, you can either eat out or buy food to cook at the
accommodation.

Trip to WhitbyEnjoy a trip to the seaside resort of Whitby, which features ruins of St Hilda’s Abbey and a maze of alleyways and streets running down to the quayside.Go on the Bran Stoker Dracula experience, where the count’s mysterious appearance and frightening warning will make you wonder if you should have come to Whitby, or visit Pannett Park, where you will find Whitby museum containing historical artefacts from around the world including the ‘hand of glory’, used by thieves and robbers to gain access to properties without being seen!

Terms & ConditionsPlease note that no refunds will be given if you decide not to attend the event. However if an event is cancelled by the SU you will be informed via email (as long as we have your correct email address) and you will have two weeks to claim a refund.
