Barrett’s esophagus:• A premalignant lesion detected in the majority of

patients with eso &GE adenoca,which is increasing (60% of eso ca) &associated with a low 5 y survival ( 15 -20%).

• Eso adenoca is *30-40 among those with Barrett’s.

• The progression of Barrett’s is from low-grade &high-grade dysplasia before the eventual development of cancer.

• Barrett’s esop is diagnosed in 10- 15% of GERD who are undergoing endoscopy& reported in patients without chronic reflux symptoms, with a prevalence of 5.6% in one report of endoscopic screening&1.6% of gen population.

• RFs for Barrett’s : advanced age, male sex, white race, symptoms of reflux& obesity, red wine, H pylori .
