GIRRAWEEN PUBLIC SCHOOL Principal: Mr. G Walker 9 Bando Road Phone: 9631 3650 GIRRAWEEN NSW 2145 31st January 2013 Principal’s Message Happy New Year and welcome back everyone! I would like to warmly welcome all our new students and their families to our school. Our new Kindergarten classes will begin on Monday. Our Kindergarten stu- dents are completing their Best Start Assessment this week to prepare their learning program for their first year of primary school. I would like to welcome our new staff members; Mrs Stavropoulos, Assistant Principal and Mrs Helmrich who is teaching Kindergarten. Both teachers bring excellent experience to our school. Miss Webster has taken up our second Deputy Principal position and Mr Gosbell will be relieving Deputy Principal while Mr Wright is on leave during terms 1 and 2. Mrs Ferns will be Assistant Principal in the Support Unit terms 1-2. A big thank you to those parents who have been volunteering in the uniform shop. It has been a very busy week and it is impressive to all see our students in full school uniform. It shows great pride in our school. Our school must have more parent assistance to continue the uniform shop as a fundraising venture for the school P&C. I encourage all parents to attend our next P&C meeting on Wednesday 20 February to support the school and ensure the services we have provided in the past continue this year for our students and families. Girraween P.S. has a long tradition of providing high quality education programs, high expectations and high achievement. We all need to work together to ensure our school maintains high academic standards and continues to offer a well rounded education including creative arts, sports, respect and responsibility as well as maintaining a happy and safe learning environment. At present we have formed temporary classes while our school enrolment numbers are to be confirmed. If the school requires forming a new class or reorganising students into different classes parents of those students affected will be informed. Our class organisation is based on the most appropriate placement for students within our school staffing allocation. We’ve had a very positive start to the school year. I look forward to another productive year for our school community here at Girraween P.S.
