Girls Inc. joined the Google “Made with Code” initiative designed to inspire girls to get excited about learning to code and to close the gender gap in the tech industry. Across the country, Girls Inc. is providing thousands of girls with life- changing experiences –whether it be an introduction to computer science or building upon their growing mastery of technology. Girls Inc. was selected by Oprah Winfrey to benefit from the sale of Teavana ® Oprah Chai at Starbucks and Teavana for our commitment to youth education. Girls Inc. President/CEO Judy Vredenburgh was recognized at the 2014 Shareholders Meeting by Howard Schultz, Starbucks Chairman, President/CEO and Oprah Winfrey for leadership in empowering girls to be strong, smart, and bold. Through Girls Inc. programs and community partnerships, over 138,000 girls have the opportunity to interact with mentors who believe in their strengths and abilities, and help them awaken their potential and succeed as leaders.
