Food Pantry Needs for Oct.
From Jon Reynolds 2 Corinthians 10:5 “We demolish arguments and every
pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of
God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to
Christ.”
I wish I could say that I had mastered this
verse. In fact, it is probably the most overlooked and ignored passage in scripture. The idea that we can control
every thought seems overwhelming. If you are like me, then your mind wanders
when focus and resolve is required. That term “captive” means to conquer, force into submission, or capture every thought
and make it obedient to Christ.
There is an old saying that speaks of this truth, “The battle begins in your mind.”
Our mind controls our actions and so we, as Christians, must manage our thoughts until Christ is first in every part of our
lives.
“Transformation” week 3 There are handouts with the lesson outline at the main entrance to the auditorium, and also in the four auditorium wall racks. You may want to keep them in a folder to refer to during the week. Extra copies of each lesson will be available at the Life Group table in the foyer each week, in case you miss one. Also, as a reminder, there is an optional workbook that goes along with the series. Flawless Retreat Your children are amazing!
In spite of cold and wet weather our
retreat was simply “flawless.” Warm
hearts and perfect praise made this
retreat one to remember.
We don’t have an article from our Hispanic minister,
Wilfredo Salvatierra, today since he is in Dallas on a
speaking engagement. Please pray for his travel safety.

Deadline to register is Sunday, Oct. 25
If your schedule doesn’t allow you to be there for the whole time, then come join us for as long as you can. There will be a retreat planning meeting this Wednes-day night at 6:00 for anyone who would like to help in room 211.

how you can help in this important ministry. Watch for upcoming announcements.
Haywood Elementary Needs Our Help The school will be hosting their annual event called
Haywood Harvest on Saturday, October 24. They are in need of donations of blankets, clothing, toys, household items and miscellaneous for their BIG give-away. If you
have items to donate, please bring them to the box marked with their school name in the foyer.
Thank You Note Dear Rural Hill Family, I want to thank everyone for the cards and letters they have sent. And for the people that have visited me. It means so much to me and Billy to know we are in your thoughts and prayers. We haven’t been able to attend church recently. I miss being with everyone on Sunday. Special Thanks to an amazing staff. We are truly blessed to have so many teens that are passionately developing authentic relationships with Jesus. It was good to see many of our youth show Spiritual leadership among their peers. The worship times were so uplifting and encouraging. Also, our theme seemed to really connect with our young people. May God continue to bless our youth at Rural Hill.

Lane Burch is on antibiotics for a leg infection. Sally Clark has been dealing with back pain and immobility. Laurie Deatheridge is receiving radiation treatments to further prevent regrowth of the tumor that was removed. Gladys Fitzgerald is consulting with her doctors about the tumor in her chest. Stephanie Fleming is recovering from a procedure. She is awaiting a biopsy report. Kim Florence’s mother is dealing with kidney stones. Nathan Hale had a port implanted on Thursday and is awaiting an updated biopsy report. Claudia Hinkle’s granddaughter, Sophia Hinkle, is having new health problems. Please keep her and her family in your prayers. Malinda Hooper’s mother, Daisy Clark, is at home recovering from heart-valve replacement. Zoe Matheny is receiving Hospice care at home. Edna Mullins is undergoing radiation treatments for
new lesions. Pete Philalom’s parents are both recovering from
strokes. Debbie Seagroves’ husband, Ron, is home on medications for blood clots in his leg. Sarah Sherrod’s husband, Percell Sherrod, is
hospitalized with serious health issues. He is not up to visitors but appreciates prayers.
Sharon Vaughn has resumed cancer treatments and is dealing with a lot of pain and nausea.
Cindy Walker was able to be with us on Wednesday night. Charles Waters, Sr. is recovering at home from surgery. Norma Williams is receiving physical therapy as a result of a recent fall. Roshunda Williams got a good report from her MRI but she is still in pain and on steroids. **Reminder : there are weekly prayer sheets available at the Life Group table in the foyer.
Our sympathy is extended... to Pany Vongsaphay on the death of her mother, Khammeung, in Laos on September 30. Please pray for God’s comfort to Pany at this difficult time.

$5 adults - $3 children 3-10 - Free for 2 yr & under
We can always use volunteers to take out
trash, wash dishes & clean tables after dinner.
Menu:
Poppyseed Chicken, Green Peas, Carrots, Bread,
Dessert, & Tea
We will have One Morning Worship in the Fellowship Hall at 9:00 a.m.
(Combined English/Spanish) followed by class at 10:30.
There will be one adult class in the auditorium and one adult Spanish class in the Hispanic Worship Center.
All teens will join the adults in the auditorium for singing.
Children will go to their regular classes. A potluck dinner will follow.
Meat will be provided. Family Fun Activities are planned after
we eat. We’d love to have some of our former members
join us so please be inviting them. There will be no 6:00 p.m. service that night due to
the extended day activities.
Trunk or Treat/Hale’s Haunted Woods
Trunk or Treat is planned Saturday evening, October 24, at the Hales’ home, 4118 Twin Oaks Lane, Antioch. Cars will line-up with their trunks open ready to hand out candy to the little costumed kiddos at 5:00 p.m. A bonfire and cookout will start at 6:00. The haunted woods will begin at 6:30. Please bring food to grill, chips, soft drinks and desserts and lawn/camp chairs. The event will conclude at 8:30.
