Agape in Action Gifts of Hope

Giving a gift of hope to a person in need is as easy as 1, 2, 3. Here’s how it works:

1) CHOOSE a gift from the following pages.

2) ORDER online or by mailing the form at the end of this catalogue to Agape in Action.

3) RECEIVE a card electronically or by mail to give to your loved one describing the gift you have donated in his or her name.

Order online and instantly receive the gift card. They will be sent in 4x6” jpeg format to allow for easy printing.

Agriculture

Goat An all time favourite! Purchase a goat for a needy family in Kenya or India. The goat will provide milk and offspring. Goats thrive well in harsh conditions and provide great nutrition for families living in poverty.

Fish This gift will stock an entire fishpond with 500 baby fish. These fish will provide food and income for the Agape in Action Academy. Below is brother Ben, manager of the Agape farm. The farm has 6 brand new fish ponds that are waiting to be stocked.

Tools for Farmers Many of our brothers and sisters in Kenya make their livelihoods from farming. It’s a tough job that provides food and income for the family. This gift will provide a brother or sister with a quality hoe, rake, machete and plastic containers for watering plants and collecting produce.

10 chicks This gift will provide 10 baby chicks for a chicken project at the Agape farm or the Mutongoi Children’s Home. The eggs will be used for food and income.

Rooster and 2 Hens An old favourite, back by popular demand! This gift provides a widow in Kenya with a rooster and two hens for eggs and income. A perfect gift as we are expanding our Widows Program in coastal Kenya.

Moringa trees The leaves of the moringa tree are packed with vitamins A, B, C, D, E and minerals including potassium, calcium, iron, selenium, and magnesium. This gift will purchase 5 moringa trees for the Agape farm.

Rabbits Rabbits provide a great source of protein and they breed, well, like rabbits! Fieldworkers have just completed the construction of rabbit cages at the Mutongoi Children’s Home in Kenya. They have some rabbits, but there’s room for more. This gift will provide a rabbit to the Mutongoi Children’s Home. The offspring will be sold to generate an income for the Children’s Home.

Banana trees The banana tree plantation at the Edith Home is going bananas, and we want to build on this success. This gift will purchase 5 banana trees to expand the plantation and generate food and income for the children and old people.

Seed & Fertiliser In support of our rapidly expanding Widows Program in Kenya, this gift will provide a widow with seed and fertiliser for an entire year. For many widows (sisters) living in extreme poverty, their survival depends on the food they can cultivate from their small farms.

Avocado trees Avocado is incredibly nutritious (a rich source of Vitamin K, folate, potassium, etc and heart-healthy fatty acids) and grows well in Kenya. This gift will purchase 5 avocado trees for the Agape farm or for a widow.

School fees It doesn’t cost much to send a child to school in India. This gift will support a child at Faith Home or Edith Home so they can go to school.

Pencils for kids in Kenya This gift will provide kids going to Agape in Action primary schools Kenya with pencils and other supplies for school. Simple and essential.

Bicycle Agape in Action is providing bicycles to kids and young people at the Mutongoi Children's Home. Riding a bike is fun, but for these kids it’s also a means of transport. Bicycles will cut hours off their round trip journey to school (which they usually walk). The bikes will also be used to transport water. This gift will provide one bike for a child or young person in Kenya.

Playground The playground equipment installed at two of our primary schools in Kenya was a big hit providing countless hours of fun and exercise for the kids. This gift will provide a playground at one of our other primary schools in Kenya or Uganda.

Music performance This gift will support 3 students from the AinA Academy choir to participate in the annual national music competition in Kenya. These kids are incredibly talented and rumour has it, they’ll make it to the national finals in 2016. For 3 students from the AinA Academy choir. E17 $60

Health and Nutrition

Equipment to mass produce the nutrition drink In 2016, Agape in Action plans to centralise and mass produce the nutrition drink; we want to reach thousands more malnourished Sunday School children across Kenya. This gift will purchase food processing equipment to grind the raw grains and mix the nutrition drink power… and help take our famous nutrition drink to new heights.

Nutrition drink This gift provides a malnourished child in Kenya with our nutrition drink; given 3 times per week for an entire year! This super-drink is one of the most cost effective interventions to support the physical and intellectual development of a child. The results have been amazing and we are all set to scale up this drink to reach more children in extreme poverty.

Emergency medical Malaria, cholera, dysentery, infected wounds, accidents… can easily claim a life. Agape in Action aggressively responds to life threatening situations that affect the children and adults in our care. This gift will be used to provide emergency medical care and life saving medications.

Hygiene kit This gift will provide a hygiene kit to a poor family. These kits (which include items such as a wash bucket, soap, tooth brush and towel) are great value go a long way to promoting health and preventing disease.

Mosquito net Prevention is far cheaper and far better than treating malaria. This gift will provide a mosquito net to a family in Kenya. Malaria is the number one killer of children in Africa, and is completely preventable.

Washroom for a widow This gift will have much more impact than you might imagine. It not only provides a clean and secure washroom (toilet) facility for a widow in Kenya, it restores their dignity.

When they are widowed, their mattress and other household contents are often taken by the husband’s family, leaving the widow with very little.
