Event Planner gives Dream Wedding to Bride after Surgery

Local business owners rally together to help

BELMONT, N.C., Aug. 5, 2015 – Moonlight Events and PR, LLC gifted event planning services

and materials ($4500 value) to Charlotte couple for their October wedding. Together with

Catawba Antique Mall’s River Room, Belmont School of Ballet, and Pink Paisley Photography,

Moonlight Events is creating an enchanted-forest, love story for the couple.

Jake Fallows and Sheena Mills had gone as far as putting deposits down for their wedding day;

but Mills, a sufferer of cerebral palsy (CP), had to undergo emergency surgery to regain the

ability to walk and use of limbs. After an intense procedure where surgeons had to break Mills’

pelvis in three places and reroute nerves, months apart due to Mills stay in rehabilitation center,

and continuing physical therapy; the couple could no longer afford the wedding they planned,

resulting in the loss of their deposits. Danielle Webb, owner of Moonlight Events and PR, LLC,

heard about the couple’s unfortunate situation through Facebook and took action to help.

“For ten years I worked in healthcare, and I know how debilitating CP can be,” said Webb. “So

to hear a couple had to make a choice between bettering the bride’s quality of life or getting

married, truly pulled at my heartstrings.”

Webb met with Fallows and Mills in May and began reaching out to other event industry

professionals to give the couple a wedding to celebrate their journey.

“Literally, she (re)created our wedding; a new venue, caterer, florist …everything, in 24 hours,”

exclaimed Mills. “It was truly God that brought her to us. She’s just amazing!”

“She really did take the stress off of us trying to plan this wedding,” stated Fallows.

When asked why she thought to ask local businesses to aid her in this daunting task of a wedding

on a seriously diminished budget, Webb recounts the mentality that no one can achieve anything

without others.

“I’ve received plenty of no’s (from event industry vendors and businesses), and understandably

so,” laughed Webb. “But I believe that the dynamic of being a small business owner is that the

choice to make a difference, to give back, to help your neighbor, lies with you. All I could do

was ask. The worst I could hear was no.”

Webb continued by passionately stating, “I’m so glad that a group of awesome women business

owners, CJ (Catawba Antique Mall) for the venue, Bridget (Belmont School of Ballet) for

dancers, Heather (Pink Paisley Photography) for engagement reshoot, Laura for floral, and

Corrina for catering, were able to come together to make a dream (wedding) come true.”
