Armillary Sphere
An armillary sphere is a model of the celestial sphere, invented by Eratosthenes in 255 BC.
Armillary Sphere
Its name comes from the Latin armilla (circle, bracelet), since it has a skeleton made of graduated metal circles linking the poles and representing the equator, the ecliptic, meridians and parallels. Usually a ball representing the Earth or, later, the Sun is placed in its center. It is used to demonstrate the motion of the stars around the Earth. Armillary spheres were developed by the Greeks and were used as teaching tools already in the 3rd century B.C.. In larger and more precise forms they were also used as observational instruments. Armillary spheres became popular again in the Late Middle Ages; the Danish astronomer Tycho Brahe (1546-1601) constructed several of such instruments.

The doubt
At this point a fundamental doubt remains :
“neutrino-centered”
The Sphera Armillaris Neutrinorum
corresponds to a Ptolemaic point of view
Assuming a transition to a Copernican point of view …
… what might be at the center of the armillary sphere?
Have you got an answer to this question?

… maybe an answer will be given by

in the highlights of his concluding talk.

OPERA’s overture
OPERA’s overture
“OPERA’s opening score has been played at the Gran Sasso Lab, and it’s in perfect harmony with the melody of the CNGS neutrino beam from CERN.” Tomorrow, September 11, a Ceremony will take place at the Gran Sasso Lab, in the presence of the Italian Minister of University and Research. The day after tomorrow, September 12, the plenary session will be devoted to the long baseline experiments in the world, in particular with the contribution of Yves Déclais, responsible of the OPERA experiment.

The masseria Montalbano Vecchio dates back to the XVI century and is one of the most ancient in the neighborhood of Ostuni. An austere stone wall keeps a village perfectly kept in each detail: the Lord's house, the cattle sheds, the stables, the oil mill, the peasants' houses and the church of the Blessed Virgin of the Rosary.
You will have lunch at the Masseria of Montalbano

In compliance with recent Italian laws about security, access to Wireless connection and Internet at the NOW 2006 workshop will require
Rules for access to Wireless and Internet
username + password
after you have provided our secretariat with a copy of your identity document or passport.
Please prepare a photo-copy or scanned copy of the relevant pages of your identity document, and give it to our secretaries when you arrive and register.
We thank you in advance for your cooperation, and apologize for any inconvenience this recent procedure may cause.
The copy will be kept only for the purposes of the Workshop, according to the Italian laws about privacy and security. You will then receive your username + password for access to Wireless and Internet at the workshop site (Hotel Daniela).Only the Italian INFN employees or associates do not have to provide the ID document, but they will need anyway to obtain username + password from the secretariat.
