Dear Parents
Boarders: Week-end out requests at Hostels
Requests to take your daughter home for the weekend must be
made every time you want your daughter to leave the hostel. A
request for a weekend out must be made via fax or email. Only
requests made in writing will be permitted, so no sms or phone
call will be accepted.
All faxes or emails must reach the Senior Housemistress in
charge of the Hostel your daughter is staying in by the
Wednesday prior at 13h00 for the following reasons:
On the Wednesday afternoon, the SHM must draw up themeal list for the number of girls staying in hostel. This list
must be submitted on Thursday morning so that an order can
be placed for all the food needed for the weekend. The order
must be placed by 10am so that the delivery of food can take
place on Friday. All suppliers are closed on weekends.
If the fax is late it could result in insufficient food beingordered for the weekend or too much food, which leads to
wastage.
The second reason for the timeous faxes is although we alltrust our daughters, in the past girls have used loopholes to
go somewhere else over the weekend instead of going home.
The third reason is a legal accountability we have ifsomeone is injured or is in an accident; or if the fax is
forged, or if the parents and the SHMs are not
communicating clearly about your daughters where abouts
over a weekend.
All faxes must bear the signature of the parent / guardian so that
it can be compared to your original signature.
Please do not fax or email weekend requeststo the school fax
number or the school email addresses.
Those faxes will only reach the hostel a day later, which in turn
will cause a problem.
Parents must fax or email the form to the Hostel your daughter
is accommodated in.

For Compulsory Out weekends the same rule applies, a fax or
email must also be sent.
The faxes need to be in on time.The responsibility of the fax oremail is the sole responsibility of the parent and not the Senior
Housemistress.
Parents please assist in order to ensure for the safety of your
daughter over weekends as well as to ensure that the correctamount of food is available over the weekends.
Outings for Day Girls
When the Day Girls go on outings with the school we request
that parents provide a packed lunch for the girls. Preferably a
packed lunch and not money as there is not always a tuck shop
available where the girls are going.
Day girls will not receive a lunch packet like the hostel girls.
The hostel girls receive lunch packets because they have paidfor them in their hostel fees and will not be at lunch.

Grade 8 Tea & Picnic Saturday 15 February @ 09:30
Parents are reminded about the Grade 8 Function which
includes the Grade 8 concert followed by the picnic.

THE FOLLOWING EVENTS:
Swimming
Thursday 13 FebruaryGalaRoedean High School, Johannesburg: The girls will leave
school at 12:30 and return to school at 19:00.
Friday 14 February & Saturday 15 February
GalaNW School Championships: The gala will be held at the
Rustenburg Municipal Swimming Pool starting at 09:00 on both
days. The girls will leave GHS each day at 05:30am and return
to school at about 19:00 on both Friday and Saturday.
Athletics
Thursday 13 February
Inter-High Athletics: Will take place at the Pilditch Stadium,Pretoria. The meeting starts at 08:30 and ends at 18:00. Athletes
will leave at 05:00am and arrive back in Potchefstroom at
21:00pm.
Saturday 15 February:
Potchefstroom trials for Athletics (POSA): Will take place at
the Gimnasium High School Sport Grounds in Thabo Mbeki
Street, Potchefstroom. The times have not been advised as yet
normally the meeting starts at 08:00 and finishes at around
19:00. Times will be confirmed with the athletes and they may
inform you.
The athletes that qualify will progress to the next round of trials
that will take place the following Saturday, 22 February.
