You should never pay the Ghosts - it only encourages them!

If threatened by a vagabond, peasant or criminal - call for the Watchman!

Stay away from dark shadows - you may never emerge from them again.

Do not enter any property if asked by any disreputable characters - call for the Watchman!

It is our duty to bring your attention to uneven surfaces, spiders, bats, rats, dead pigeons, plague victims, peasants, prostitutes along the route - particularly the old battlements of the castle.

In areas of low lighting - close your eyes - its better you don’t see what is behind you.

Follow your guides - they know where they are going... most of the time!

WELCOME TO DARK ENCOUNTERS

Are you interested in seeing the history from a unique perspective? Possibly the most haunted city on the South Coast, Portsmouth has a dark history of murder, mayhem, plotting and politics. From the sinking of flagships to the assassination of nobility, the dark monuments of Portsmouth are witness to it all.

Join Dark Encounters as they bring to life stories of Portsmouth within the chilling setting of Spice Island or historic Southsea Castle in the new City of Vice Tour. Dare you follow your guide as they take you deep within the battlements and towers of the old quarter and its chequered history.

The tour lasts approximately an hour to an hour and a half and involves interaction with actors and group participation - this tour offers a unique perspective to the streets and monuments of Old Portsmouth.

PROVISIONS

The walk covers areas with uneven surfaces, limited lighting and stairs. If you feel your group may have a problem with mobility please let us know. We cannot guarantee the weather so please bring precautions against it. The walk will continue in bad weather but in the event of severe weather we may need to cancel due to health and safety. PROVISIONS FOR HORSELESS C ARRI AGES AND AU TOMOBILES

There is plenty of parking in the Garrison Parade car park for Spice Island or at the D-Day car park for Southsea Castle. Coach parking is available at both.

The meeting point for the two tours are;Square Tower, Old Portsmouth for Spice Island or,Drawbridge for the Southsea Castle Tour.

The tours can be modified to meet your groups re-quirements. We can shorten walks, add scenes, or remove areas of even surfaces or steps. If you feel that the Tour may be too terrifying for your group we can allow an opt out - so only those brave enough can continue a certain part of the Tour.

We can even tailor the walk to match the occa-sion, so if your employer is facing retirement, why not have him arrested by the magistrate, have him locked in the Tower and hold a trial for crimes against the company. For a birthday treat why not sell your friend into the service of The Ladies of the Night or allow the local sailors to know all their most embarrassing secrets. The possibilities are endless...
