Gharda Foundation's Gharda Institute of Technology (GIT) is situated in rural area of naturally gifted konkan region,where students from all over state, especially from Thane, Navi Mumbai, Raigad, Sangli, Satara, Karad, Kolhapur, Sindhudurg and naturally from Ratnagiri district take admission. As GIT is situated in between Khed and Chiplun talukas, to facilitate students to concentrate on study and to avoid travel time loss, hostel facilities for about 750 students are made available in GIT campus itself with all amenities at moderate rates.

D. IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS TO STUDENTS : 1. Student should maintain utmost cleanliness in room, hostel premises and mess. 2. Student should maintain self discipline. 3. Student should properly use hostel property. Loss/damages of hostel property, if any, will be

recovered from students. 4. Student should maintain mess timings for breakfast, lunch, dinner, etc. 5. Student should use Gate No.1 only while leaving/entering college/hostel premises. 6. Students residing at hostels are responsible for their belongings like, mobile, cash,

documents, laptops, etc. kept in their room. 7. Student should not use excess electricity or any heating appliances. 8. Student should not waste water. 9. Student should not use music appliances in hostel. 10. Student should not spit, smoke chew tobacco products and consume alcoholic drinks in the

hostel as well as in campus. 11. Student should not quarrel and shout within hostel & campus. 12. Student should not pass absurd comments to one-another. 13. Student should not leave college premises without valid permission from authority. 14. Students should not indulge himself/herself in any sabotage activities or instigate at hostel as

well as in college premises.

15. Students should not allow outsiders or non-hosteller students to stay in room or any other place in hostel

16. Student should not create hindrances / interruptions by shouting, gathering, playing any game in the hostel, which will be detrimental to the health of academic atmosphere as well as study.

17. Students should not instigate each other against the Management. 18. Students must be present in the hostel at the time of attendance without fail. 19. Students should observe exit & entrance timings of hostels. 20. Non-observance of instructions will be dealt severely. It may call actions like fine, rustication

& debar from hostel/college. 21. Students must get clearance from concerned warden while vacating hostel room at the end of

academic year. 22. Complaint, if any, regarding mess food, material, services, etc. must be registered in

complaint book available with concerned warden. 23. Prior written permission from the authority is required for celebration of any kind of

functions / festivals. Defaulters will be dealt with strict disciplinary action.

E. PREVENTION OF RAGGING IN TECHNICAL INSTITUTIONS 1. “Ragging is prohibited as per the decision of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in Writ

Petition No. © 656/1998” as well as subsequent notifications issued by the AICTE and Mumbai University. Students indulged in ragging in any form in the college campus or in the vicinity will be strictly dealt with and punished including expulsion from the college, as per the provisions of the Maharashtra Prohibition of Ragging Act 1999 and other legislation as may be applicable.

2. The student will be denied admission if he/she is found indulged in ragging earlier OR if it is revealed subsequently after admission that he/she was indulged in ragging, he/she will be rusticated from the college, as per the Govt. circular dated 18th July 2007 pursuant to Hon'ble Supreme Court Judgment in regard to enforcement of anti-ragging measures.

3. All documents in this regard are uploaded on our website: www.git-india.edu.in 4. Every hosteller student and his/her parents has to submit the anti-ragging affidavit in the

prescribed format.

F. PLAYING WITH COLOURS / OTHER MATERIALS Playing with colours or with other materials inside the college campus (including hostel) or in the

vicinity or adjoining places outside the college campus during the festivals is strictly forbidden. Students found indulged in such activities are liable for strict disciplinary action. Use of crackers / explosives inside the college premises including hostel is prohibited.

G. HOSTEL ADMISSION TO S.T. CATEGORY STUDENTS Only those students, who have Caste Validity certificate, can get admission in hostels (Refer

University of Mumbai Circular No.400/2009 dated 30.10.2009).

H. DRESS CODE All students must be properly dressed before moving out from hostel premises. Decent dressing

is a mark of respect to the august place of learning. Any violation will be considered as an act of indiscipline. Students will be advised from time-to-time about formal & dress code for events.

I. HOSTEL RULES : Students must remember that the hostel is their home on the campus. They should behave

themselves on the campus as well as outside in such manner as to bring credit to them as well as to the Institute.

1. Allotment of Rooms a. Institute will allot the rooms to the students on “First-come-First serve” basis. Students

should occupy the allotted rooms and the bed. Exchange of rooms and/or bed once allotted will not be allowed.

b. Cabinets, cots, chairs and tables are to be maintained without staining or even scratches. Clothes are to be folded properly and kept neatly inside the cabinet.

2. Damages / Losses a. Cost of damage/loss of the Institute property is to be borne by student individually or

collectively on case-to-case basis at the discretion of the Principal/Registrar. b. Any sort of breakage or damage in the hostel rooms including baths, toilets, mess area of

whatsoever nature (i.e. bulbs, chair, table, windows, beds, glasses, mirrors, taps) is to be reported by the concerned student in the complaint book for further action by the Principal/Registrar.

3. Electrical Appliances Iron, toaster, oven, water heater, tea/coffee maker or other high voltage electric appliances

are not permitted in the hostel rooms. In case of violation, the appliance will be confiscated. Mishandling of T.V., remote, water cooler or any of the hostel and college property may lead to a fine of Rs.100/- per occasion or the cost of repair, whichever is higher.

4. Utilities The students are advised to conserve water and energy, avoid wastage of water, electricity

etc. at all times, switch off lights, fans etc. and close the taps properly when not in use. 5. Visitors Visitors are not allowed to enter students' room. Visitors are allowed to meet concerned

students only on Sundays in the foyer of ground floor. Students are advised to meet visitors during free time.

6. Trespassers Only students, authorized staff/faculty and authorized vendors like washer-men are allowed

entry in the hostels. Clothes for washing, etc are to be given/ collected from the collection /delivery point only near the entrance lounge of the hostel.

7. Waste Materials Waste paper, litter, wrappers, dust, etc. collected from rooms are to be deposited by room

occupants in the bigger waste bins kept on each floor. Similarly, sanitary napkins/ tissue rolls/ toilet paper, etc. are to be wrapped in polythene/paper bags and deposited. Insoluble materials are not to be thrown into water outlets or commodes as this may result in the blockage in the sewage pipes.

8. Alcoholic drinks, smoking, weapons etc. As mentioned and notified, gambling, consuming tobacco in any form, consuming alcoholic

drinks, drugs and /or smoking are strictly prohibited. No one is allowed to enter the campus after consumption of alcoholic drinks, drugs etc. Possession of tobacco, drugs, liquor, spirit,

cigarettes, beedies and gutkha, weapons, etc. are not allowed in the campus. If found any of the above in possession, the student will be suspended from the hostel immediately. If repeated, the student will be removed from the hostel and the institute.

9. Food No food items are allowed from out-side the campus and even from mess and cafeteria to

carry to rooms. Fruits, nuts, sprouts, biscuits and pre-packed bakery and confectionery can be kept in the hostel rooms.

10. Loitering Loitering around is not allowed in the academic, administrative, mess and cafeteria area.

During free time, one is expected to be in the library, in recreation areas or in the hostel room. 11. Campus Code a. General behavior must be polite and courteous to all at all time. Arguments and demands

with mess, cafeteria staff, vendors, staff, faculty, in public places or with public, over telephone, etc. should be avoided.

b. Any conduct or behavior unbecoming of a student or good citizen shall attract intervention and action. It has been observed that the Institute students by virtue of their numerical strength are sometimes involved in cases of physical violence or nuisance at public places outside/inside the institute campus. In all such cases the college is not legally bound to defend any student or to take bail etc. If the necessity arises, the Institute authorities may inform the guardian/parents of the students involved in such incidents. The responsibility of defending the cases will be entirely of the concerned student(s). Students shall be responsible for their actions. No student shall be above the Law. The hostel cannot be considered as a hiding place for miscreants. The police authorities have the right to enter the campus, detain or arrest anyone depending upon the severity of the offence. Parents are especially requested to guide their wards so that they don't indulge in any physical violence.

c. Principal, Registrar, Warden and /or his/her authorized representatives can conduct regular and surprise checks in the hostels including rooms at any time for monitoring adherence to these orders and also to monitor attendance. All the students will remain present at the time of roll call.

d. No girl student or any women shall enter boys hostel and no boys/ males shall enter girls' hostel except staff members carrying out official duties such as inspection, repairs, etc. that too with permission and authority.

e. Security staff and institute's staff are hereby authorized to check violations of these rules and enforce adherence. No argument with them is permissible on the norms, which are clearly spelt out.

f. Students are advised not to keep any valuables such as gold/silver ornaments, cash etc. in the hostel rooms. Institute is not responsible for any damage or theft.

g. Students are responsible for their belongings. They are advised to keep all their belongings under lock and key all the time. Mobile phones and cash should be properly taken care of. Institute is not responsible for any loss of valuables kept by a student.

h. Non-adherence of the given rules will attract disciplinary action to the extent of termination of studentship from the institute.

12. Health-care Institute provides first level medical attention and can arrange for expert attention and

consultants, as required. In case of emergencies, the hostel warden can extend assistance and make arrangement for hospitalization.

13. Termination of Studentship Termination of studentship without notice will happen in case of the following: a. Stealing or indulging in malpractices in examinations or tests. b. Sexual misconduct inside or outside the campus. c. Found inside the campus intoxicated or after consumption of liquor / drugs. d. Found smoking in the campus including inside the hostel rooms. e. Willful damage to campus property. f. Indulging in violence against anyone. g. Not clearing the examination according to the rules. h. Violent behavior / assaulting others inside the campus. i. In case a student continues to indulge in misconduct even after two cautions / warnings. j. Allowing other students/outsiders to stay in hostel room.

If student/s fail to comply any of the rules mentioned in this prospectus, the quantum of punishment / penalty, as decided by the Management, will be binding on them.

WARNING“RAGGING” of student, physically or mentally, is a black spot on the society and is a cognizable offence. The students who have to face ragging can lose their mental stability and can spoil their lives.

All the students are requested not to do such inhuman & cruel act. If any student is found involved in ragging, the matter will be handled very seriously. The student may be rusticated and the case may be handed over to the Police.
