Let’s make a difference with a Drop of Cleanliness
From the Principal’s Desk
A school is always a 'world in miniature' where one receives a 'training for life', where effective,
meaningful and joyful learning takes place. It is here that they learn skills of life- to face
competition, to accept challenges, and rejoice in victory and triumph and take failures as a
stepping stone to learning. They learn values of caring and sharing and respect for their friends
and community.
The school helps the children to set goals and chart a road map to achieve them. It teaches a
child to arrange their routine meticulously and be good organisers. Active involvement, time
management and working independently are few other things that are some of learning
outcomes a child imbibes in school.
At GHV we strive to make learning a seamless and lifelong process, with every step thrilling and
more fulfilling. Let us develop the leader within each child and give them wings of education to fly!

Theme Presentation 3 Oct
Theme based learning ensures that learning can be integrated into one theme to make it interesting, fun-filled and easy to understand.
Through Theme Presentations parents learn about their children's progress. The students of Grades 1 to 4 actively participated in this event
and came up with some superb performances which included singing, dancing, role-play, recitation, power point presentations, PE
performances etc. It helped the students to develop their presentation skills, escalate their understanding and improve their ability to
communicate and express. Parents also got an insight to how concepts are made
interesting to ensure better grasping and understanding by their children.
Reading Inspiration Day 15 Oct
Reading Inspirational Day was created to pay a tribute to the legendary
Padma Bhushan Award recipient Dr. APJ Kalam, a role model for his
education and wisdom. A special assembly
was held by the Primary section and a movie
“I am Kalam” was shown to the students.
After that a short discussion about Dr. Kalam
took place where they got to know about “The
Missile Man”, his life and his works. Later
they were asked to write down their individual
thoughts. A day spent remembering Dr.
Kalam inspired and motivated the students and ignited the thirst for knowledge in them.
Cleanliness Drive 16 Oct
Keeping in mind the “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” started by the Prime
Minister, Interact Club GHV participated in a cleanliness drive in sector 19.
Grades 9 and 10 along with four teachers took part in this event. GHV
students rallied with placard and banners with sayings like 'One who
maintains cleanliness keeps away from disease' , 'Use bins to dispose
garbage and keep Navi Mumbai clean' etc and encouraged passer-bys to
join the drive. The students
made efforts to make
people aware of the
importance of hygiene and
sanitation as well as to
inculcate a sense of
consciousness among the
local residents to practise
healthy sanitation etiquette.

Navratri Celebration 21 Oct
To honour the primordial source of energy (Shakti), Navratri celebration was
organized in collaboration with the parents. The programme started with a “Housie”
game and after that an overwhelming “Ram-Leela” was performed by the mothers.
The event ended with a wonderful “Garbha” performance by the parents and the
children. This event informed the students
about our traditional and culture. This
celebration was also an attempt to
strengthen the bond between the parents
and the school which is essential for a
holistic development of the child.
What’s the Good Word? 23 Oct
“Few activities are as delightful as learning new vocabulary.” Very truly quoted by Tim Gunn. Vocabulary plays a major role in the learning
graph of a student. The more books they read, the more texts they explore, they come across new vocabulary. “What's the good word” is an
event held for the students of grades 1 to 4 where they were arranged in teams. Various rounds of vocabulary based questions were organised
which brought out the scholars amongst them.
Visit to a NGO 27 Oct
With the purpose of fostering humanity and cultivating a sense of responsibility towards the weaker sections of society, students of Grades 9
and 10 visited the 'Aarambh Gyan Seva Kendra', Turbhe. The visit helped in sensitising the students towards the condition of unprivileged
children in society. Our students also distributed articles that are required in our daily life to the children of the NGO. This visit had a great
impact on the students which made them thank the 'Almighty' and appreciate the things which they get without any struggle.

Gandhi Jayanti is a national holiday in India to mark the occasion of
the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, the “Father of the Nation”.
On 1 October 2015, our little blooming stars of Junior KG conducted
a joint assembly. The event started with a prayer song, “Raghupati
Raghav Raja Ram”, much loved by Gandhiji . The children spoke a
few lines about our leader. Videos and presentations were shown to
the children about the life of Bapuji. They were also shown our
currency which has Mahatma Gandhi's picture on it.
The children gained knowledge about our great leader who sacrificed
so much for our country. They were also informed about “Ahimsa”
(non violence) , that the power of love can work wonders on others
and that fighting will never resolve issues.

Pink Day 19 Oct
“Dandiya Raas” is the traditional folk dance form of Gujarat. It is
associated with Holi and Lila of Radha-Krishna at Vrindavan.
On the day of celebration, our little dolls came dressed in colourful
traditional clothes of Ghagra-Choli and dupattas and the boys in
Kurta-Pyjama and Kedias. Mothers of these little shining stars were
invited to be a part of the celebrations. They also came dressed in
traditional attire. Fun games were organised for our moms after which
the moms and our kindergartners put on their dancing shoes and
played Dandiya.
The children experienced a different dance form and the mothers got
to spend a fun-filled afternoon with their children.
Pink is the colour of love and caring and our little kindergartners
celebrated Pink Day with great enthusiasm.
Our little shining stars and teachers came dressed in different shades
of pink. The corridors and the classes were decorated with pink and
the children got one take-away toy which was pink in colour. The
different shades of pink were shown to them. Natural and man-made
pink things we see in our daily routine were also showcased. The
children shared their toys with their friends and had a great time with
loads of fun.
The children learnt to share and spread love by celebrating Pink day.
