the book and your badge. If you have come to check yourself in on 2nd of May, you can then go onto panels, or go out for a meal or to see the town, and return for the keynote. The opening reception on Tue 2nd May will take place at a former church, now named “All Saints Community”, 10 Blackburn Ave, Ottawa, ON K1N 6P9.

If the Reception desk finds any financial discrepancies in your record, you will need to come to theNomadIT office in UCU 206 on the ground floor of the University Centre to sort that out. PLEASE NOTE YOU NEED TO PAY IN CASH (in Canadian dollars).

VenueThe conference mostly takes place across various buildings of the University of Ottawa campus. The University Centre (The Jock Turcot University Centre, 85 University Private, Ottawa K1N 8Z4) houses the Reception desk area, the Book Exhibit, the Poster session and a portion of the refreshment breaks. The keynotes and plenaries take place in the Marion Auditorium which has simultaneous translation and sits 420 people. There will be a video relay to DMS 1160 at the Desmarais Building (55 Laurier Ave E, Ottawa, K1N 6N5) on Tuesday 2nd May and Saturday 6th May; on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, the plenary will be relayed to FSS 2005 of the Faculty of Social Sciences building (FSS, 120 University, Social Sciences Building, Ottawa, K1N 6N5).

Panels are spread over various buildings on the campus, all within walking distance of each other and the reception and catering area. The number of buildings in use will be up to 11 on Friday – we apologise for any inconvenience this geographic spread may cause!

Do pay attention to the building code that is the first part of the location reference: e.g. if the location of your panel is marked as DMS 1150, this means that the panel will take place in room 1150 in the Desmarais Building.

When is the Reception desk open? The Reception desk will be easy to find from the main entrance of the University Centre (Jock Turcot University Centre, 85 University Private, Ottawa K1N 8Z4), with the exact location carefully signposted.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE REGISTRATION DESK WILL ONLY OPEN AT 11 on Tuesday, May 2nd – we will unfortunately not be able to check you in before that!

CateringCoffee and tea will be served to delegates daily at the three refreshment serving areas: Promenade B, UCU Student Lounge and the FSS Lobby. Lunch is not included in the registration fee, but the printed programme contains an extensive list of eateries on campus and beyond, so every delegate should be able to find something to their liking.

Cards and cash Most merchants accept credit cards, of which Visa and MasterCard are the most popular; AmericanExpress is not as widely accepted. ATMs include Plus/Visa and Cirrus/Master Cards. There are many ATMs across the campus, including inside University Centre.

EmergenciesEmergency messages should be sent to [email protected]; NomadIT can be contacted also at one of these numbers: +13432624444 / +13432625555 / +447866425805 / +447482613951.

Making use of your portable device

PDF/EPUB versions of the printed programme will be on the conference website by April 27th so you should be able to read it before you arrive to Ottawa. Given that the updated versions of events and panels will always be on the conference website, we recommend starting with that: thedaily timetable will give you a bird’s-eye view of all the planned events, workshops, panel session times etc. The Keynotes and Plenary Circles page, as well as Roundtables, the Audiovisual media programme, and the events and meetings along with panel pages show the dates, start times, locations and short descriptions of all academic and social events that will be happening in the course of the conference.

More information

The timetable and map follow. Full information will be in the conference programme that you can collect from the reception desk along with your badge.

Travel safely!Yours,James, Rohan, Triinu (NomadIT team)
