Cambridge Sub-Region Housing Profiles
Cambridge Sub-RegionProfiles 2014The profiles consist of two parts:• An interactive atlas mapping data about people,
housing and households across the Cambridge sub-region.
• The parish profiles (in an Excel workbook), which includes notes about data sources and full sets of data.
• This slideshow provides technical tips for how to use the atlas and spreadsheet.
The atlas
The overall look of the atlas depends on the browser used to access it. This slideshow uses screenshots from the Flash version. Although they appear different, operation is generally the same.

To show the data for just one district, filter the data by district by clicking here and selecting from the dropdown
Opens alternate geography atlas in a new tab
Click to switch the map to a table/ table to a map
Legend with colour key for map/table and bar chart
Comparison table. Shows comparator data for district, county, regional and national indicators where available
Bar chart. Shows data in chart form. Comparators selected in the comparison table will appear as a line here
Data explorer: select the data you wish to view from here
Example This example shows the percentage of outright owner occupiers (selected from Data explorer), filtered (filter data) for Fenland wards (change geography).
The district comparator has been selected (comparison table) and is shown in the bar chart. The bar chart only shows data for the filtered area (Fenland).
Hover mouse pointer over top right hand corner of an element to drag, maximise to full screen view or close selected element
Click the secondary mouse button anywhere on screen to select additional options
Interactive features in the legend
• Clicking on the pencil icon in the legend (rosette in HTML atlas) brings up the legend settings.
• You can use this to change the colours of the map/bar chart and make other changes to the look of these elements.
• Clicking in the blue boxes next to the boundaries will make the boundaries visible. In this example the district boundaries are ticked and are outlined in dark blue.
• Selecting legend categories highlights them in the map and bar chart. In this example the top two legend categories have been selected are highlighted in orange in the map.
Excel profilesSelect a parish or city ward from the drop down list.
Selecting a parish/city ward in B2 automatically selects the corresponding ward/market town and district.
Selected data is automatically displayed in all tables and graphs.
