Despina Forbes is a practicing Psychologist since 2009, an MBSR facilitator and a yin and hatha yoga teacher based in Durban. She started her yoga journey in 2008 and then sought to deepen her practice in 2016 by training for her Yoga Alliance 200 hour teacher training at the Jivananda Centre for Wellbeing in Durban under the guidance and teaching of Christine Withiel. In 2018, she furthered her training with Sarah Powers, through Insight Yoga, in the UK. She has been teaching at both the House of Calm and at the Centre for Purposeful Living since having completed her teacher training. In 2019, she deepened her journey with advanced teacher training at Akhanda Yoga, Rishikesh, India, under the guidance of Yogrishi Vishvektu. Despina, in addition to the yoga, has also practiced and trained as a Mindfulness Facilitator through the Oxford Mindfulness Centre (OMC), Oxford, UK, The Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice and the University of Bangor, Wales and has been fortunate to attend international Mindfulness Based Intervention events.
