GERMAN PLURAL NOUNS
that take an +e or umlaut +e ending

The ‘e’ ending is taken by many single-syllable nouns (not by all unfortunately). Also to nouns ending in –eur, -ich, -ier, -ig, -ling, –är and -ör.

Some single-syllable nouns also take an umlaut as well as the ‘e’ in the plural:
Examples:Der Arzt = ÄrzteDer Bart – BärteDer Kuss – KüsseDer Sohn – SöhneThese rules also apply to compound nouns.
Arzt = Ärzte, Zahnarzt = Zahnärzte
