DSM’s production facility is based on a process driven approach enhanced by technology enablers and high levels of automation. This has helped create a highly scalable yet lean production flow line. DSM also offers ‘Traccia’, a GPS based vehicle tracking service that provides real time monitoring of vehicle movements. This is also integrated with a fuel sensor that helps accurately monitor the fuel consumption.
Company History
DSM has a two decade long history of providing technical services in Geomatics, Geoenabled, Engineering and Publishing domains. We have worked for a number of national mapping agencies, defense, utility and other public & private sector organizations.
The BeginningDSM was founded in the year 1991 as a CAD service bureau by brothers Ramesh and Ganesh Ananthakrishnan with the vision of promoting, “Customer Satisfaction through value and excellence”.
The JourneyFrom its humble origins in the year 1991, the DSM group has progressed through its two decade long journey with many milestones in between, significant among them being:
1991 Started as a CAD Service bureau.
1993 Won contract with the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) for 3D Modeling.
1994 Added Geospatial data capture services to its portfolio of service offerings.
1996 Entered into a tie-up with for partnering on Mapping and Utility projects.
1998 Entered into a tie-up with for partnering on utility based geospatial projects.
1999 Added Digital Photogrammetry to its portfolio of service offerings.
2001 Won the Berlin Electric NIS project from .

2002 Won the 1:5000 scale mapping project from Ordnance, Survey of Ireland (OSI)
Acquired the geospatial division of SDS to form DSM GeoData Ltd.
2004Won the 1:5000 scale revision mapping project from OSI as sole supplier, on the strength of its excellent performance in the
original mapping project in the year 2002.
2006 Became the sole non – Australian supplier of mapping services to .

Geomatic Services
DSM specializes in providing 2D GIS data services and 3D photogrammetric mapping services to a wide variety of clients from across the world. DSM Soft has a highly sophisticated ISO 9001:2008 certified geospatial data production facility at Trichy, South India. It employs over 250 staff capable of producing a wide range of services. DSM’s production facility is based on a process driven approach further enhanced by technology enablers and high levels of automation. This has helped create a highly scalable yet lean production flow line.
DSM has completed successfully several high volume geospatial 2D/3D data conversion projects, geo-terrain based services, image processing services and utility network information system projects from disparate and wide ranging sources (including ortho-photos, satellite images, aerial photographs, and other legacy inputs) and has delivered them in multiple GIS formats.

DSM started the geo-enabled services vertical in the year 2009 for offering location based services. This initiative came about on account of the identification of significant opportunities that location based services offers in the growing Indian market.
Since its inception in 2009, DSM has successfully launched three service offerings.
Traccia – An online real time vehicle tracking and fleet management system (www.traccia.in)
Traccia is a fully-functional Fleet Management System that merges GPS technology with affordable wireless technology. The result is easily accessible information on a vehicle’s location, stops, idling and mileage that can be quickly analyzed to yield benefits in efficiency and cost reductions. The operations side of a business can make of its fleet to run more efficiently by accessing GPS location information using our web application.

DSM has adopted the Quality Management System stipulated by ISO 9001: 2008 as a strategic decision to improve the operations within the organization and deliver services to the best satisfaction of the customers.
DSM adopted the process approach during the development, implementation and improvement of the effectiveness of the Quality Management System, to enhance the customer satisfaction. This Process Approach is used within the Quality Management System of DSM to emphasize the importance of:
• understanding and meeting the requirements• the need to consider processes in terms of Value Addition• obtaining results of process performance and effectiveness, and• continual improvement of processes based on objective measurement

MilkyWay – Project Enabler
To aid in the continuous improvement and management of its Quality Management System, DSM has developed its own workflow management system called, “MilkyWay”, which is used for the management, reporting and tracking of the majority of its projects. This allows clients and partners real time access to the status of their project on an hour by hour basis. Milky Way is the company’s “digital nervous system” and functions as:
• A project management tool for reporting, tracking and analysing project status• A tool for drawing up project schedules and allocating work to operators• An internal communication tool enabling messages to be sent internally. • A knowledge bank that allows staff to post suggestions for improvement of any process. Ramesh Ananthakrishnan, B.Eng. MSc, Managing Director – IndiaRamesh is the founder and director of DSM Soft (P) Ltd in India. He has grown the company from a staff of 3 in 1991 to its present level. Educated in the USA he worked there for a time assisting companies to improve their production flow lines. His contribution to DSM is delivering in India, a world-class geospatial and engineering production resource.
Ganesh Ananthakrishnan, B.Eng, Director – IndiaGanesh is Co-founder and director of DSM Soft and jointly with Ramesh has been responsible for the development of the business to its current size. Ganesh is responsible for the financial management and administration of the business in India.
Ravinder Prasad, B.Eng. Vice President - Support Services - IndiaRavinder graduated in Civil Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, Rajasthan, India. He has been with DSM since 1994. At DSM he has been instrumental in successfully managing various GIS data conversion projects. He has broad experience on cartographic and topographic mapping projects and has significant experience of utilities mapping, cadastral mapping and mapping from satellite imageries.
Avinash, B.Eng. Associate Vice President – Head Sales (Geospatial) - IndiaAvinash is a civil engineer and has been working with DSM Soft for more than a decade. He is a very dynamic and extremely capable manager, who believes in adopting latest techniques and technologies in every aspect of his domain which happens to be GIS. Avinash started his career in DSM as a project leader and over the course of his stint here, he has now progressed to holding the position of Associate Vice President – Head Sales (Geospatial).
