ELIGIBILITY1. All exhibitors are required to read and abide by the Georgia National Fair General Rules and Regulations found at https://www.georgianationalfair.com/p/georgialiving/finearts. PLEASE NOTE: IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO READ AND UNDERSTAND THE RULES. If you have questions, you may certainly e-mail us at [email protected]. Please help us prevent entry disqualifications. 2. Open to all Georgia artists whoare 18 years of age or older and nolonger high school students (thosestudents must enter in the Youth ArtCompetition).3. Artistsmayenteruptothreeworksper category of their own original and untutored work. Each piecemustbeanoriginalworkofartandnota replication of another work. Workspreviouslyshowninthisexhibitionmaynot be entered. Works must have been completed within the last three years.4. The size limit for all hanging artworkis5’x5’,includingtheframe.Artshould not extend more than 2” fromthepictureplane.Workmustbeframedand ready for hanging with securehooksandwires.Nosawtoothhangers.Watercolors, graphics, and dry mediamustbecoveredwithglassorPlexiglas.Works on canvas may be unframed,butsidesofcanvas(gallerywrap)mustbepainted.Canvasmustbestretchedon frameandstapledonback,notonsides; sides must be painted with acontinuation of the artwork, or a solidcolor-notwhite.5. Sculptureandfloorpiecesmustfit

withina4’x4’space,befreestanding,andnotweighmorethan150pounds,unless previously approved. Noinstallations,please.6. Accepted work which differs fromthe image submitted for jury will bedisqualified.7. No accepted entry may bewithdrawn prior to the close of theexhibition. Early removal will result inforfeitureofprizesanddisqualificationfromfutureshows.8. Unlike a traditional art gallery, theGeorgia National Fair patrons consistlargelyoffamilieswithchildren.Exhibitsmustbesuitableforfamilyviewing.TheGeorgia National Fair reserves therighttorejectanyexhibitofferedifitisobjectionable.Thisincludes,but isnotlimited to: imagesofnudityorgraphicviolence, profanity, and depictions ofasexuallyexplicitnature.DecisionsoftheGeorgiaNationalFairwillbefinal.

ENTRY PROCESS9. Registration for Fine Art is onlineonly. Online entries will open on July5.Thelinktoonlineregistrationcanbefoundathttps://www.georgianationalfair.com/p/georgialiving/finearts.10.All images will be submittedelectronically along with your entries.One image for each two dimensionalpieceenteredanduptotwoimagesforeach three dimensional piece may besubmitted. If youhavemultipleentries,besure tomatch the image to the titledisplayedwhenyouupload.11.Mostmajorcreditcardsareacceptedforregistrationfees.

ENTRY FEES12.Non-refundable entry fees are$10 per work, payable to the GeorgiaNationalFair,uponentrysubmission.

ACCEPTED WORKS13.Artists will be notified of [email protected].

A separate email will be sent for eachworkentered.14. Artists whose works are acceptedwill receive instructions for shipping ordelivery.Decisionsofthejuror(s)willbefinal.

SALES15.UnlessspecifiedNFS,itisassumedthatallworkisforsale.Pleaseprovideapricewithyourentry.Nocommissionwill be attached to sales. Sold worksother than Purchase Awards will becoordinatedthroughtheartistandmustremain on exhibition until scheduledpickupafterthecloseoftheshow.

LIABILITY16.Every reasonable precautionwill be taken during the receiving,installation, exhibition, and return ofwork,buttheGeorgiaNationalFair,itsemployeesandvolunteers,willassumeno responsibility for loss or damageincurred. Artists should carry theirowninsurance.Workshouldnotbesofragile that shipment or public displayispotentiallyharmfultotheworkortheviewer.

AWARDS17.More than $9,000 in Merit andPurchase Awards are available inadditiontocashprizesofferedforeachcategory.Checkswillbemailedwithin6weeksoftheendofthefair.

PURCHASE AWARDS18.TheGeorgiaNationalFairFineArtsPurchase Awards Program benefitsboth the patron and the artist. Artpatrons pledge to buy art from workssubmittedtotheGeorgiaNationalFairFine Arts Competition and Exhibition.The amount a patron pledges is theminimum they will spend to buy artfrom a single artist. For instance, if apatron pledges $500 and desires aworkpricedat$350,thepatronwillpaytheartistthepledgedamountof$500.

Apatronmaybuymorethanonepiecefrom the same artist for the pledgedamount if the works are priced withinthat amount. A patron may increasetheircommitmentinordertopurchaseafavoredpiece.Becausenocommissionischargedandbecausepatronstakeariskinmakingapledgetobuy,we ask the artists to submit a reduced price for the Art Patron Purchase Awards along with a regular price to the general public.19. Pre-sold works or commissioned works are not eligible for the purchase awards program.

Best of Show Awards $500 Amateur

$2000 Open/Professional

AMATEUR DIVISION For the beginner or the exhibitor with limited experience who has yet to reach an accomplished level of the art. An artist who accumulates 10 first place ribbons or wins Best of Show more than once will be required to move up to the Open/Professional Division. Judges reserve the right to move works from Amateur to Professional if quality of the work merits.

For the exhibitor (professional or amateur) whose work is competitive at the highest level of his/her art. Professionals are those people who teach fine art, have a degree in fine arts, and/or receive income from their art.

2019 Awards JurorSamCollinsisanativeofCincinnati,Ohio.Aftergraduatingfromhigh school Sam studied art and biology at the University ofCincinnati.HecontinuedhisstudieswithaMaster’sofScienceDegreeinMedicalIllustrationfromtheMedicalCollegeofGeorgia.Samhasspentthemajorityofhisprofessionalcareerillustratingthe intricaciesof thehumanbody,creatingcellular landscapes,and explaining scientific concepts through pictures. He is aCertifiedMedical Illustrator and a Fellow of theAssociation of

MedicalIllustrators.Aftertwenty-fiveyearsofsuchspecializedartwork,Samiscreatingimagesthatevolvefromroadsidearchitecture.Theimagesarereminiscentofdaysspentonfamilyroadtripswhenhewasaboy.Sam’sloveofpopartcombineswithhisfascinationofsigns,storefronts,advertising,imageryandeventsfromthemid20thcentury.“Iwanttotakesomethingfromanothertimeandpresentitinanewway.Itrytocreateimagesthatrecycleandtellanewstoryfromoldmaterial.”Samdescribesthehisworkas“AndyWarholmeetsEdwardHopper.”Hedescrinesafewofhisprocesseshere:TheDigitalImageProcess:Sam begins by taking digital and traditional photographs. The images are thenmanipulated,altered,andpainteddigitallytoarriveatthefinalimage.Oncecompleted,thefinalartworkisprintedonarchivalpaperorcanvas.Thefinalprintedpieceliessomewherebetweenaphotographandadigitalpainting.MixedMediaProcess:Sam combines his manipulated and altered images with acrylic paint and othermaterialstocreateaoneofakindpiece.Sam'sartworkworkhasbeenexhibitedinshowsandgalleriesinAlabama.Hehaswonawardsforhisphoto/digitalworks.Youcanviewhisartworkatsamsdiner.us

TheGeorgiaNationalFairFineArtsMeritAwardsProgramgivesthepatrontheopportunitytorewardanartistforapiecethatmaynothaveplaced,butthepatronfeelshasmerit.Thepatronpledgesacertainamountwhichisawardedtotheartist,buttheartistretainspossessionofthepiece.ArtistsforArtMeritAwardsarefundedthroughcontributionsbyGeorgiaArtists.
