Props needed for the filming of ‘Daphne Watt.’

• We thought a lot about props when planning the filming of Daphne Watt. We realised that it would take a lot of planning to ensure that everything went smoothly and it was important that we were prepared.

– We each brought in a little bit of money on the day so that we could buy everything we needed and made sure that anything we didn’t buy we had to hand.

Red Bull.

One of the ‘rules of survival’ that Daphne is told to live by is ‘Never lose control’. Our initial idea was to show her consuming alcohol, however we realised that since we would be filming during daylight this would be unrealistic so instead decided that it would be more amusing and more like her character to show her on a ‘red bull high’. This involved a lot of planning in advance as we knew that we would have to collect a lot of cans of red bull in order for the scene to work. A member of our group starting collecting them a week in advance so that we would have about 20 on the day.

Yoghurt.

Another one of the rules was ‘Never get too close’ so we decided this scene would entail Daphne noticing a boy she likes whilst eating yoghurt, causing her to lose concentration and drip yoghurt down her face. This meant that we would need to bring a bit of money in on the day in order to buy a yoghurt from the refectory.

Sweets

Another rule was ‘Always be wary of strangers’ which involved Daphne taking sweets from a suspicious looking character. We knew that the vending machines at college provided these so all we needed to do was make sure that we were prepared and brought in enough money to pay for them.

Beans.

‘Never draw attention to yourself’ was another rule Daphne was told to live by. The scene regarding this rule involved the character spilling beans down herself in the middle of town. We knew we had to bring in money to buy these from the refectory. We also knew that it may take more than one take to get the shot we wanted so we needed to make sure to bring enough money to get some spare beans just in case anything went wrong and we needed to redo the shot.

Computer

One of the shots involved Daphne talking to her cat via the software ‘Skype’; This meant that we had to find a computer to shoot the screen on. We went around college and found various different computers that would be possible for us to use.

Clock

One of the shots we are intending to use involves a close up of a clock therefore we needed to find one appropriate. We went to Castlefield house and found one there that we could use.
