Children’s Corner PARENTS! PARENTS!
Please remember our,” Children’s Department TOWN HALL MEETING”, immediate-ly following the 11 AM worship service, Sunday, March 1st, 2020. As seen in letter
below, this meeting deal primarily with our children. Please make every effort to attend.
Dear parents of the children of Georgia Avenue Baptist Church,
The year 2019 went by so fast, and if that was not enough...guess what? We just finished the first month of 2020. Please do not be anxious, we have surprisingly good news for you.
Like any other progressive institution, we have reviewed our children’s department policies. So many things have changed, some for the better or worse. Our teaching styles have changed, eating habits, lifestyle, but most important of all the changes is our communication. Our children have in the palm of their hands, a little device, yes, the cell phone, that brings the world to their palm.
We would like to invite you to a Town Hall meeting, Sunday, March 1st immediately following the 11 AM service. Please come to meet a team including: Pastor Bonner, Angela Clark, Juan Ri-vas, Beatrice Diggs, Laura Mbeng, Doris Foggie, Petrina Annan, and Sylvia Bernard. All are dedi-cated to help you train up a child in the way he should go. We would like to hear your thoughts on training and raising Christian children.
Sylvia Bernard

Sunday School
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. (Mat. 28:19-20, NKJV) There is a need for Sunday School teachers. Teachers are needed from Nursery to Adult classes. If you have a desire and feel committed to teaching God’s word, please see Valentine Nchinda, Angela Clark or Bonnie Bonner.
Join us in one of our Sunday School Classes at 9:45 AM.
If you need a ride to church or Sunday School, please follow these steps: 1. Call your Sunday School teacher. He/she will try to arrange a ride.
2. If you are not enrolled in Sunday School, call your deacon. He/she will try to arrange a ride.
3. If your Sunday School teacher or deacon can’t arrange transportation, then call the church office. The office manager will contact one of our members and see if pickup is possible.

“Recruiting For Jesus” Acts 16:1-5
Background
• Paul revisited many of the cities where he had evangelized on his 1st journey to see how the disciples were doing
• Paul’s other main purpose was to share the decision of the Jerusalem Council
• In Lystra, Paul found a disciple named Timothy who greatly impressed him
• These verses describe Paul’s 4-step plan of discipleship to train a new recruit for Christian service—still applies today
Paul’s Discipleship Plan Enlistment
• Paul looked for a potential worker who was already active in the church
• Paul asked Timothy to serve under him
Evaluation
• Paul conducted a background check on him—family/community references
• Paul requested and Timothy agreed to observe a religious practice that would en-hance his ministry to Jews
Equipping
• Paul took the new worker with him on ministry outings that built confidence
• Serving on a team allows workers to use strengths and minimize weaknesses
Employment
• Paul gave Timothy increasing ministry responsibilities to build leadership
• After proving him(her)self, the worker is ready to take charge of a ministry—Timothy became a pastor in Ephesus
How To Recruit A New Worker
• Ask God to reveal who in the church is ready to assume greater responsibility
• Recruit the person, not for the position
• The person’s spiritual gifts must match the position he/she will fill
Ev’ry Time I Feel The Spirit
Ev’ry time I feel the Spirit moving in my heart, I will pray. Ev’ry time I feel the Spirit moving in my heart, I will pray.
1. Upon the mountain when my God spoke, Out of His mouth came fire and smoke. All around me, it looked so shine, I asked the Lord if all was mine.
2. Ol’ Jordan River, all chilly and cold, It chills the body, but not the soul There ain’t but one train that’s on this track, It runs to heaven and runs right back.
Guide My Feet
1 Guide my feet while I run this race, guide my feet while I run this race, guide my feet while I run this race, for I don't want to run this race in vain!
2 Hold my hand while I run this race, hold my hand while I run this race, hold my hand while I run this race, for I don't want to run this race in vain!
3 Stand by me while I run this race, stand by me while I run this race, stand by me while I run this race, for I don't want to run this race in vain!
4 I'm your child while I run this race, I'm your child while I run this race, I'm your child while I run this race, for I don't want to run this race in vain!
