*Call to Confession, Unison Prayer, Silent Prayer

Revealing God,

Every year, I hear the prophet Isaiah and the baptiser John shout out

“Prepare the way of the Lord.” But how do I do that? How do I prepare for

your coming in a world where injustice and violence are normal? How do I

prepare to greet you when my own life is in disarray? How will I recognize

your coming amid all the commotion about me? Forgive me Lord. Forgive

my in-attention to your presence and on-going work in the world. Forgive

wavering trust in your conquering love as I face the challenges before me.

Forgive me and re-open my heart, that I may receive you in new and

wondrous ways as I follow the star you have set before me . . . . . .

Invitation to the TablePrayer of Thanksgiving & Lord's Prayer (found on the inside back cover of hymnal)

Words of Institution 1 Corinthians 11:23-26All who seek a relationship with Christ are invited to come forward to share this spiritual feast. In preparation, examine your faith life, asking God to open your heart to those actions which, through the work of the Holy Spirit, will deepen your intimacy with Christ. Please take a piece ofbread from the plate and dip it into the cup, partaking immediately.

Gluten free bread has crusts attached. The cup contains unfermented grape juice. Anappropriate response to the Elder’s words as you receive the elements is "Amen" which means,"Let it be so." Using one loaf and cup symbolizes our unity in Christ. If coming forward isdifficult, you will have the opportunity to be served in the pew. All ages are invited to the table, for none of us fully understand this gift of spiritual nourishment that we have been given. ThePastor will be available at the antique communion table for those who wish a personal moment ofprayer.

Receiving God's Tithes & Our Gifts

As did the first century church, we will receive the offering as a part of our communion

celebration. The offering is not returned to the front of the sanctuary, but is immediately sent

from our gathering, symbolizing its use beyond church walls.
