Stoppedclocks.com• An ongoing document of all the stopped

public clocks in the UK• Each post is geo-located creating a geo-

database• Each post is information and media rich

What is the question?• Hidden on 43 blogs

across the web were 43 latitude and longitudinal locations

• The main site contained cryptic clues to lead searchers to these blogs

• Once solved, the player travelled to the specified location to hunt for the hidden object

• The object would then provide the final instructions for uploading to the site

By using map markers laid out in a pattern which “connect-the dots-style” drew an image, we created a new form of online art

Page 9: Geomob Meetup - alfie dennen deck

Britglyph: The worlds largest work of art

• 61 exact locations span the country, creating an image of a watch

• Players travel to their closest marker with a rock

• They take a photo of themselves + the rock

• They send this image in to the site with location information

• As locations are received, markers are ‘claimed’

Standing in a field at Midnight

The DNA of media is location.Geo information is not the Deus Ex Machina for sorting media on the web... But it comes close...

So what does all this mean?

• Using game systems to encourage mass tagging of the world seems to work

• Co-opetition is an engagement driver that is ideal for networked projects

• The power to get someone to stand in a field at midnight is quite an awesome one

• What are the implications for Geomedia projects?
