Polygon: a closed figure formed by a finite number of coplanar segments called sides such that:

a. the sides that have a common endpoint are not collinear

and

b. each side intersects exactly two other sides, but only at their endpoints.


(note the vertex of each angle is also referred to as a vertex of the polygon.)

*Name polygons by consecutive vertices.


Diagonal:


Diagonal: a segment that connects nonconsecutive vertices of a polygon.


Convex vs Concave


Equilateral:

Equiangular:

Regular:

all sides are congruent

all angles are congruent

both equilateral and equiangular

All sides are congruent AND all angles are congruent.
