• 3 data products, most detailed is 1:50000 scale
• Complete coverage of Great Britain

Future development
• September 2010 release:– Polygon highlighting
when retrieving map details
– Map-based links to a Geology Photography Collection (JIDI Images)
– Introduction of BGS Rock Lexicon as an independent application
• Existing map application will run in parallel until it is withdrawn in December 2010

Step-by-step download process:1. Identify the product/format2. Search for your location3. Choose the required tiles4. Make download settings5. Download data files
Step 1: Select product/format
• Select product• Choose data format: Shape (ArcGIS), or MID/MIF (MapInfo)
Step 2: Search for data
Step 3. Results list
Step 4: Choose data
• Select the required tiles from the list or map
• Select the required layers for those tiles
Step 4: Download settings
• Archiving and compression – Unix, PC, Mac?
• Large numbers of component files mean no individual file downloads
• All downloads delivered in .zip or .tar archives
Step 5: Downloading
• Use your browser's ‘Save link as..’ or ‘Save Target As…’ option
• Click the link to go to the download page
