Recap • So far this topic you have learnt that some
hazards are increasing in frequency and are having a greater impact on peoples lives.
• We have discovered that the unpredictability of El Nino and Global warming can lead to an increase in other natural hazards
• That although the number of deaths are falling because of disasters the economic costs are rising

Learning Objectives• K- Know how to describe trends
in hazards and impacts • U- Understand how natural
disasters can effect both MEDCs and LEDCs
• S-Be able to attempt exam style questions using the knowledge acquired in the last 3 lessons

Describe the patterns you seen in the 2 graphs below

What do we learn from this data??•From the geo physical data there is no solid evidence that the frequency or magnitude of earthquakes or volcanoes is increasing
•However, the hydro-meteorological hazards is definitely increasing.
•Highly likely to be linked to climate change and us humans!

Comparison of events and impacts!
Huricane Katrina (USA-MEDC) 2005 vs Cyclone Sidr (Bangladesh- LEDC) 2007
Watch the following video clips and think about which place you think was most seriously damaged?
