DIFC The Gate Building, Dubai

High Rise

GB02An exclusive 1.2 million sq ft mixed-use development in Dubai, featuring health club and spa, business centre, retail, and a 50-storey residential tower containing large two-bedroom apartments, sky villas and penthouses.

Mixed-use, residential and commercial towers, Gensler has designed some of the region’s most iconic buildings; commanding presences that also complement the existing skyline.

Bank HeadquartersDrawing on the nautical heritage of the Gulf and taking for its inspiration lighthouse towers to represent a guiding light, the Beacon uses a circular fl oorplan around a central atrium that harnesses and distributes daylight throughout a series of ‘vertical villages’. Solar energy captured during the day is stored and used to create illuminated halos around the tower.

Ritz Carlton DubaiThis fi ve-star, 340-key hotel, which also includes 124 executive serviced apartments and 323 luxury branded apartments, is located in the heart of the Dubai International Financial Centre, also designed by Gensler. Amenities include business centre, ballrooms, restaurants, bars, health suite, spa, retail, tennis courts, gymnasium, swimming pool, sun decks and lush landscaped gardens.

Light House Hotel & ApartmentsLocated on the prestigious Palm Jumeirah island, this complex comprises 400 rooms and 200 apartments, divided into three complexes that each overlook a courtyard planted with exotic fl owers and palms. Retail units, nine restaurants, library, fi tness centre and spa complete the offering.

Luxury hotels designed to meet the exacting requirements of the international business traveller, as well as meeting the needs of the burgeoning tourism sector.

McGregorThis 400 sqm clothing retail store is located in the heart of Antwerp. Quality high-end fi nishes are used throughout the space to create individual atmospheres for each collection. Treated walnut, polished plaster, mirrors, leather and stone are counterbalanced with contemporary light fi ttings.

In today’s global market, business and retail must have strong brand identities, strategically defi ned and well communicated.

We have worked on integrated strategies covering building architecture, websites, identity design, brochures and exhibition stands, achieving recognition and allowing our clients to stand out in a crowded marketplace.

Al MansourAl Mansour, the General Motors distributor for Egypt, approached Gensler to design their new130,000 sq ft headquarters in Cairo’s rapidly developing business district. The new building integrates the fi rm’s corporate headquarters, showroom, parts and service facilities including café, shops, lounges and terraces.

DIFC Master PlanThe master plan for the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) sets a new course for development through the combination of working, living and leisure activities in one complete city district formed by clusters of mixed-use offi ce, retail, entertainment, and residential developments.

SaadiyatThe comprehensive master plan provides for a new resort community for Abu Dhabi, to support a population of 150,000 people and offering a full range of hotels and visitor attractions, marinas and cultural district within a fl exible framework for long-term development.

State StreetThe 20,000 sq ft offi ce expresses the fi nancial provider’s international brand in a simple contemporary environment. Private meeting rooms support the open plan layout and informal discussions can be made in the more relaxed zones including the lounge, breakout areas or cafeteria.

GB02 – The Plaza

DCCIAn extension to the existing facilities of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, this striking new building is a fully integrated design creating a new environment for business opportunities, and fl exible enough to allow for subdivision into the smallest 1,000 sq ft tenancies right up to 8,500 sq ft lettings.

Jon Tollit

Jon is Principal of Gensler London’s Studio 585, which is responsible after retail branding and graphics projects. He is both a registered architect and a member of the Chartered Society of Designers. Ian Mulcahey

Ian leads a specialist multi-disciplinary team of planners, architects, landscape architects, and urban designers based in the London offi ce of Gensler, and is Firmwide Planning Practice Area Leader for Gensler. Gary E. Wheeler

Gary is Director of WorkPlace Europe and is based at Gensler London. José Sirera

Stephen Laucirica
