1. Software

RCCMD for IBM AS400 !

GREAT POTENTIAL! In Germany alone, there are over 8.000 AS 400 installations with UPS support via dry contacts. ( I do not know how many run in other countries, but since this technology is 30 years old and regarding UPS technology for this OS also, I think the market is ready for a change to the RCCMD shutdown topology.) Unfortunately most AS 400 machines have been operating under great risks because they are usually never tested – without risking an interruption and damage. Now that IBM has changed their built-in UPS driver for dry contacts of the “iSeries” - the problems get more severe. Its now the time to offer youre customers an opportunity to stop hassling with IBM UPS cables and to minimize this risk with the introduction of RCCMD for IBM AS400. RCCMD for IBM AS400 will eliminate hassling with cables and UPS interfaces. Simply install RCCMD and configure your UPSMAN (Windows, UNIX, MACX, NOVELL) or any CS121 to send an RCCMD shutdown message when it becomes necessary and no more limited functionality of the IBM UPS service and no more rebooting your AS400 to enable UPS functions. Best of all you don’t have to wait, RCCMD for IBMs AS 400 is available now! Chinese and Korean

Starting with CD 5.12 UPSMAN and RCCMD are available in Korean and in Chinese. This is a complete translation for both languages. The help files, tool tips and the network messages have all been translated. And once RCCMD and/or UPSMAN are installed on a Chinese version of Windows the complete interface and configuration elements appear in mandarin characters.

USW Version 2.07c

Version 2.07c is the most recent release of USW. This version of USW allows for an even wider range of parameter settings. Now users can apply dual methods of controlling network communications as a safe check against false alarms. In addition, the performance of USW has been improved increasing the speed with which USW reacts to UPS alarms. USW is GENEREX’s original solution for JAVA based platform independent management of parallel redundant UPS systems. Approaching the end of 2005, USW will become obsolete for Windows systems with the introduction of UNMS2 which will absorb and incorporate all USW functions. UNMS2 will offer more functionality and will be easier to use than USW.

RCCMD 3

Also RCCMD V3 for Windows has parallel redundant capabilities. Simply select the IP addresses of the UPSMAN process found during the setup UPSMAN server scan and select the redundancy level. The redundancy level is the number of shutdown signals that the RCCMD client will repress before conducting an inevitable shutdown.

CS122 Drastic Price Reduction !

We introduced the CS122 in November 2004 and since then we have optimized our production. This enables us to now offer a massive price reduction on both - the slot and external CS122. Even the price of the UPSMAN software bundling package will be reduced radically. Also, you can profit from huge savings by making a forecasted pre-order. The same bulk purchasing rebates will also apply proportionally to the CS122 external. With these savings, the CS122 is now the lowest priced, UPS manufacturer independent, fully functional UPS network solution with SNMP, network messaging, Emails, RCCMD shutdown and other network functions on the market.

CS121 Forecast 2005/2006

The CS121 is a success story in the UPS market with currently over 20.000 units on the market and the spring 2006 circulation forecast will reach the 30.000 mark. This is the

most successful UPS Network manager available for most any UPS types, Power generators, Inverters and Air conditioning systems. The CS121 is also the basis for BACS, our new unique battery management system. The most important manufacturers in the UPS market use the CS121 and rely upon it as a universal platform for UPS management for all of their vendors. With support for more than 1400 UPS products, the CS121 supports more UPS systems than any other UPS management device in the world! Since the introduction of the CS121 based on the Webchip type 2 in 2001 we have established and solidified our market position as a leader in UPS network management. In the process of doing so, we have optimised our production and this has now led us to our newest development, the Webchip Type 3. The Webchip Type 3 will bring the costs of the CS121 down by at least 10% and will double the performance of the CS121. We will start the distribution of the 3rd Generation of CS121 models in July 2005. We want to pass these advantages in full extent to our RESELLERS and OEM partners. Please be prompt in contacting us in this regard with your own distribution forecast – this is the surest way to insure the greatest possible price rebates when placing your orders. OEM Partners and RESELLERS can take full advantage of these price reductions and order for July now ! Note that all new firmware upgrades will remain compatible to our products CS121 model 2000-2004.

SS4 and SS4AUX

The SS4 and SS4 AUX are our intelligent Ethernet Power Switching devices based on the CS121. These devices allow for the switching of up to 4 Outlets via manual user input through any Web-browser or via fully automated responses to predefined conditions in the CS121 EVENT Manager. The AUX Version is an ideal plugin extension for any CS121 UPS Webmanager that is already in use with a UPS. The SS4 is a standalone Network Powerswitch based on the CS121 that can be used with or without a UPS. This device makes it possible to reboot your computer or switch on/off any other power consuming device from anywhere you are able to get your mouse on it and unlike any other device of its kind, it is the only one with support for more than 1400 different UPS models.

RASMANAGER GSM

There is a new RASMANAGER version available, now our remote UPS management system is also available with a SIEMENS GSM phone, dual band GSM800 and GSM1200 and GPRS. The RASMANAGER makes monitoring and managing UPS in non-networked environments possible. Alarms are relayed to designated remote monitoring stations and the coverage is limited only by the GSM signal coverage.

SITEMANAGER 2

The new Sitemanager 2 is coming soon. It’s a complete new development which has the same functionality as Sitemanager 1, but at drastically reduced prices. The new SM2 is a 19inch rack unit (only 1 RU) with connections for up to 8 analog devices (temperatures, humidity, etc.), 8 digital inputs (alarm contacts of any kind) and 8 digital outputs, (load capacity 8A at 230V). Best of all the SM2 is 30% off the price compared to the previous model !

New CS121 Tool

Although the CS121 possesses an intuitive and easy to use configuration webinterface, it can take a long time when having to conduct a large amount of configuration changes at once. Due to the wide range of events and configuration options that the CS121 supports, there is no way of avoiding the eventuality of very elaborate configurations and the nature of HTTP protocol makes overhauling such configuration tables somewhat laborious when using a web browser to do serious configuring. To improve upon this situation we have made a new configuration „Tool“ for the CS121. This new tool may look familiar too some of you, because it is a simple and smart adaptation of the UPSMAN for Windows configuration interface for the CS121 series. With this tool for Windows it is possible to retrieve and modify the configuration of a CS121 adapter using more intuitive and advanced configuration features as well as the quick and easy to use copy & paste Windows functionality. This tool makes it easy to quickly modify hundreds of different events without having to cope with the protocol delays and step by step methodology that would be involved in using the Internet Explorer or any other browser. For those of you who can appreciate this new tool, just contact us and ask. We will give it to you for free.

COM2 Temperature Sensor SMTCOM

The perfect after sales follow up! Contact all your CS121 customers (over 20.000 customers are waiting for you …) and offer them the new SMTCOM sensor for COM 2: This tiny temperature sensor comes with a 1.5m cable for direct connection to the COM2 of your CS121 and is measuring the ambient temperature in °C (°F on demand). (Note: You extend this cable up to 25 meters). Beside the AUX alarms for Air condition failure you have now a chance to double-check those alarms with real time measurements of the environmental temperature at your CS121. As usual, any alarm may be configured to send emails, shutdowns, etc., additionally all the measured values are displayed in the CS121 statistics GCHART graphs. The SMTCOM is available now!

SMBUZZ - Alarmbuzzer

This is a new piezo alarm beeper for the AUX port of your CS121 or for the SENSORMANAGER. This device is a CS121 triggered sounding alarm that can reach 60 db and it can be boosted up to 80db (!) with an external power supply. Available now for CS121AUX and for SENSORMANAGER.

SENSORMANAGER (SM) Add-Ons

Our SENSORMANAGER is a very flexible environmental data manager for the CS121 series. Now we have extended the range of sensor for this device: SM SENSORMANAGER + SMPLUS: This is a new Temperaturesensor for the range -30°C to +70°C. Available now. SM SENSORMANAGER + SMT_H: This is our new, GENEREX low price Temperature and Humiditysensor (Combisensor) for the range 0°C to +90°C. Available now.

SM SENSORMANAGER + POWERCHAIN (PWRCH):

This is a 1m “Powerchain” cable for the SENSORMANAGER. Using this cable both a CS121 external and the SENSORMANAGER can be powered using the SENSORMANAGER power supply adapter. This can be especially helpful in places where both a CS121 external and SENSORMANAGER are being used with a UPS system together or if the CS121 is powered by a UPS internal powersupply.

SM SENSORMANAGER + FLASHLIGHT Alarm :

This is a flashing alarm light for the AUX port of your CS121 or for the SENSORMANAGER. This device is triggered by the CS121 and adds visible alarms to your installation. Available for CS121 and for SENSORMANAGER

Other Sensors

Beside our own Sensor range “SMxxx” we also offer third party sensors that are ready for the use with SENSORMANAGER. Currently we offer a Smoke sensor SD (Reseller price 75 Euro), Glass breaking sensor SMGLASS, (Reseller price 79 Euro) and a Water alarm sensor HYGROSM (Reseller price 159 Euro). These sensors work with dry contacts and you can actually connect any third party dry contact sensors to either one of the CS121 input alarm contacts or to one of the SENSORMANAGER input alarm contacts. Any third party product with dry contacts for audible or visible alarms may also be connected to one of the SENSORMANAGERs 4 output channels and using an external power supply they can also be directly connected to the CS121 AUX.

GENEREX vs. APC

In order to clarify the differences between the GENEREX UPSMAN, APC Powerchute and several Chinese UPS software we have compiled a feature comparison EXCEL data sheet. This involves a comprehensive evaluation of the different features in both programs. OEM partners and Resellers are welcome to make a request for this EXCEL file. This sheet contains not only a feature comparison but also a relentless performance evaluation in regard to defects and deficiencies for discharge tests, value read outs and the like. This will give you a reference for pointing out the strengths and weaknesses of both systems and can serve as an aid in making your own comparison. We will be updating this sheet as new software versions become available and we will also be making similar comparisons for our other UPS software and hardware products. For this reason we recommend that you periodically request for the newest versions of the comparisons to keep informed on the strengths and weaknesses of the competition. GENEREX is ready to help to make critical comparison tests in arming our Resellers and Partners with solid knowledge to meet the challenges of their competitors. LED MATRIX 2

Many have expressed interest in our Ethernet Display “LED MATRIX” but with a price of over 1000 Euro for the small version, the demand has been moderate. Scheduled for availability in July 2005, LED MATRIX 2 which includes a piezo horn uses a lowcost LED Display that is even larger than the previous version (8 cm * 100 cm display size) and best of all; the price of the LED MATRIX 2 will only be roughly 40% off the price of the former model.

VMS UPSMAN officially discontinued:

It is time to say goodbye to UPSMAN for DEC VMS. The development of UPSMAN for VMS is being discontinued. Under certain circumstances, licensing for older versions of VMS may be made available. This will however not include support. This pertains to the older VAX and to the newer ALPHA machines. VMS RCCMD: Fortunately, support for RCCMD for VMS will be continued. So VMS users can simply use a CS121 or UPSMAN on any other OS in their network to manage the UPS and shut down the VMS work stations using the RCCMD services.
