T he UAE IAA in the latter half of 2016 conducted External Quality Assessments for the internal audit departments at Dubai Airport Freezone Authority and Amlak Finance PJSC. The departments received the “Generally Conforms” rating and were awarded with a plaque and a certificate. Seen in the below pictures are the heads of the audit departments receiving their plaques from His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, UAE Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development. Also present in the picture is Abdulqader Obaid Ali, President of UAE Internal Auditors Association. International Internal Audit Awareness MonthThe Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) encourages
members, chapters, and Institutes around the world to actively promote internal auditing’s value during International Internal Audit Awareness Month each May and year-round. Awareness month efforts offer internal auditors a heightened opportunity to advocate for the profession, both within their organizations and in their communities.
The IIA and its chapters and Institutes are actively promoting the value internal auditing brings to organizations, hosting forums and roundtables, and so much more! But beyond this annual monthly recognition of our profession, internal auditors must make a conscious effort to enhance awareness year-round. The UAE IAA conducted several events during May 2017 to celebrate the Audit Awareness Month.

The International Conference is the premier event for internal
auditors who want to hear powerful keynote speakers and international presenters representing the global internal audit profession. Attendees are presented with a number of concurrent sessions on today’s current issues and trends, industry best practices seeking to address common challenges, and knowledge-sharing opportunities.

The UAE-IAA conducted the graduation ceremony for the fourth batch of HASAAD graduates The apex
body for internal auditors in the region introduced the program in Arabic for the first time during the fourth batch.
Abdulqader Obaid Ali, Chairman of UAE Internal Auditors Association, said: “Organisations across government and private sector are focusing on enhancing the role of internal auditing, which can play a key role in enhancing productivity and leading to success of any organisation. The UAE organisations are on the forefront when it comes to adopting the best international practices in every field. By providing world-class training to Emiratis, Hasaad is contributing to developing local talent to match international requirements. It is also contributing to increasing the participation of Emirati youth in workforce. We are expecting more than 30 people to undergo Hasaad training by the end of this year.”
The UAE IAA aims to increase the current number of UAE nationals working as internal auditors in the private and public sector by tenfold by the year 2021. As per the
Vision 2021 document, the UAE strives to shift towards a knowledge-based economy pioneered by UAE nationals with a skill set revolving around knowledge and creativity.
The program focuses on providing technical training in internal auditing, along with developing soft skills in the areas of negotiation, presentation, report writing. In addition, it prepares the attendees to deal on the job situations by sharing of life challenges and experiences of Chief Audit Executives. Hasaad also provides training to the candidates to enable them to pass Part 1 and 2 of the Certified Internal Auditor ‘CIA’ qualification.
