Submissions
Submit ad material and technical questions to
Standard ads must be submitted at least 3 workdays before a campaign
starts.
Special types of ad must be submitted at least 5 workdays before a
campaign starts.
Please include the following information:
• Customer name, campaign name, campaign time frame, ad media; special
designations for ad material that is to be given special placement.
• Link "http://www.targeturl.com"
If you wish to replace existing ad material, you must specify exactly which
material you want replaced.
Submission deadline is at least 3 workdays before replacement.
All standard ad material should meet OVK standards.

Technical Checks
If ad material does not meet technical specifications or
content guidelines, campaigns may be postponed for certain placements by
the number of days that it takes for ad material to be re-submitted to meet the
contractually agreed targets for impressions or clicks.
Please notify us in due time if you need to unexpectedly suspend a display
during a campaign due to any changes in ad material or maintenance on the
target page.
Misleading Ads
Target URLs for ads must function properly, and they must point to a
functioning website (as of the start of the campaign). They must not point to
an email address or a file.
Ads must not cause any software to download to a user's computer, unless
users are expressly informed beforehand about that software's installation,
operation and removal, and users are given the option to refuse to install the
software after reading such information.
Please note that fake ad material (such as Windows error reports and list
boxes that do not work) will not be accepted.

resolution will be later on the web. Motor Presse Stuttgart will encode and
resize video ads accordingly.
• MP4 files must have the right definition (16:9; 640x360px) and bit rate
(max. 900kbit/s) when they are submitted, because we cannot adjust them.
• The best way to share the raw format is through a web server, as a
downloadable file (maximum file size 100 MB).

Sound
If you want to use sound effects or music in your ad material, please
remember the following points:
• Sound effects can only start playing if a user interacts with the ad.
• Sound can only start from a click or a mouseover (only for certain
placements on request). Sound can only play once and must not repeat
(no loops).
• Ad material should have a readily visible option for disabling sound, such
as "Sound on/off," "Music on/off" and/or a speaker icon.
• The sound must stop when the user closes or clicks on the ad material
(with layers, for instance).
Redirects/Third-party tags
Redirects are ads that are not physically present on the ad server but are
displayed by another ad server. They essentially mean that Motor Presse
Stuttgart 'refers' the user to a third-party ad server.
Please note the following for cases when ads are displayed as redirects:
• Redirects/third-party tags must be active for testing purposes when ads are
submitted.
• If third-party tags (Adform, Sizmek, Flashtalking, Adition, etc.) are used in
an ad, please include specific instructions for including our click counters
and a contact at the third party.
• Layers that function as redirects must be fully positionable using URL
parameters or JavaScript variables (which you may need to add).
• Expanding ad material and layers that function as redirects must disable
and later re-enable list boxes that get covered up.
• No transparent surfaces may remain after a user closes or collapses
expanding ad material or layers.
Protocol
All components in your ad material, especially tracking pixels and external ad
server systems, must use HTTPS protocol. Use of HTTP results in display
errors and tracking differences.

Rich media/HTML Banner
• When using rich media Banner, be sure to name variables and elements
appropriately in order to prevent unintended interactions between banners
and campaigns or, worse, between banners and page content.
• If your ad material contains a form method, please only use the GET
function.
• Style class names can only use the character sets A-Z, a-z and 0-9.
• Please remove all comments, spaces and tabs from the code. More
precise specifications are available on request.
• With all clicks (such as HREF and FORM ACTION), remember
target="_blank" so that the target URL also appears in a new window.
Expandable ads
• Ad material should open with an onclick (in which case there must be a
close button) or a mouseover and close with an onclick or mouseout.
• Ad material must move back to its original position as soon as a user
moves their mouse off the ad surface.
• Transparent surfaces cannot be clickable.
• Ad material must be submitted as a file (a surface that is partially covered
at first).
• There must be a 600ms activation delay (user must hold mouse over ad
material for 600ms before it expands) -- the same applies to an ad's
animation and sound.
• Pre-expanding: Ad material should open once automatically and close on
its own after no more than 10 seconds, and a readily visible close button
should enable users to close the ad before that.

Libraries like the ones exported by Adobe Edge or Google Swiffy Converter
can only be used to a limited extent and must be tested before a campaign
starts.
Physical submissions are only permitted for Super Banner, Skyscraper,
Medium Rectangle, Halfpage Ad, Billboard, Wallpaper and U-Shape. For each
element (Wallpaper, Super Banner and Skyscraper) in a physical submission,
we need a ZIP file containing all of the assets that make up the ad material.
Please refrain from referencing external objects. There also needs to be an
index.html file as a starting point, and you need to use relative path
referencing to embed all embedded scripts and all of the elements contained
in the ZIP file.
File sizes and load times
Industry norms allow HTML5 ad material to load data at three different times:
• Initial load: Can initiate immediately. All files required for initial graphic
display should load at this time. This is also the time to collect metrics such
as ad impressions and visibility.
• Subload: This used to be called a polite download. It allows the main parts
of ad material (images, interactive elements, complex animation) to load.
Ad material is permitted to initiate a subload if the top window has sent the
load event. The top window cannot normally be accessed when Motor
Presse Stuttgart displays physically submitted ad material. You can work
around this by calling the load event of the current window object.
• User-initiated load: Can be initiated when the user interacts with the ad
material (touch, click, mouseover). An unlimited amount of data can be
loaded after that point. This is when videos or audio files should load.
Please note that mobile users usually have limited data available so their
load should be kept as small as possible.

Please use the tools offered by rich media service providers such as AdForm,
DoubleClick, Flashtalking and Sizmek to host and create your redirect tags.
Other rich media service providers must be tested in advance, on request.
Third-party redirect scripts are subject to the submission requirements for
third-party tags. The agency or the ad material host will then be responsible
for correct implementation and, if necessary, for the positioning and
functionality of all of that type of ad on our pages.
The maximum file sizes we have defined apply here too. On request, we can
grant more scope in terms of total file size for special HTML5 inserts. Extra
scope of this kind cannot be granted for standard implementations.
Use of libraries can result in unintended side effects, so you must submit
them in a closed frame (iframe).
Third-party tracking pixels and click commands need to be integrated in the
HTML before creation. Clicks may be tracked too in some cases, depending
on the type of redirect. Always deliver a fallback image1 that is defined in your
type of ad if a browser does not support a special feature or the library you
have used.
Wallpaper/U-Shape (Fireplace)
Super Banner and Skyscraper should be submitted in separate tags
(iframes).
Redirect 1 tag solutions cannot be used for all placements, and whenever
they are used they must be fully positionable using URL parameters and
tested in advance.
Video material
Your ad must display as a third-party iframe if it uses video material.
The user experience cannot be impacted by loading banner material in a
common computing configuration.

Local connects
HTML5 ad formats that combine multiple banners and use synchronized
animation sequences (local connects) must take into account that banners
are implemented using iframes in such cases.
To avoid potential restrictions on banner communication due to the same-
origin-policy (SOP), you can embed a message bridge that legitimates the
communication between iframes under the SOP.
If a rich media service provider hosts your HTML5 ad formats, find out in
advance if they offer a solution for synchronized animation sequences.
Motor Presse Stuttgart will assume that submitted material is documented
and that it can be used without any additional modifications. The agency or
the rich media service provider is responsible for coordinating and installing
message handlers in your ad so that any messages that have been
transmitted are received, processed and sent. Installation must occur before
an ad is submitted. The same requirements apply if material is submitted as
an HTML5 ZIP file and you synchronize the animation sequences in your
creation on your own.
Clicktags
Write clicktags as one word: clicktag.
Multiple clicktags should be written like this: clicktag, clicktag1, clicktag2 <n>
The following lines of code should be integrated in HTML5 ad material to
transmit clicktags.

Functional testing of clicktag GET parameters for transmission to ad material.
The creative agency should test the ad material for functioning clicktag
transmission in order to eliminate unnecessary feedback loops.
Test:

Replace %LANDINGPAGE% with a test target page and enable it to transmit
URL‐encoded (encodeURIComponent function).
For ad material that is submitted as an:
• HTML5 ZIP file: Include the clicktag/landing page combinations in your
email.
• Third-party redirect iframe: Include the corresponding clicktag GET
parameters encoded right in the iframe URL of your iframe tag.
In addition, please note that you cannot present multi-clicktags separately in a
single piece of ad material. Clicks are always presented in a KPI report
cumulatively for each type of ad.

Must not exceed 30% for current standard devices.
