To assist GPs with fulfilling their relevant requirements, the RACGP SA&NT are offering an accredited basic CPR course and an emergency general practice review that:
• Fulfils QI&CPD program basic CPR requirements.
• Is allocated 5 Category 2 points in the 2014–16 triennium.
• Covers ALS and BLS.
• Practices coordinated resuscitation.
• Refreshes basic ECG rhythm interpretation.
• Considers topical emergency presentations and recent changes in emergency practice.
Additional topics are flexible and meet the needs of the participants.

All staff working in general practice should be aware of what to do in case of a medical emergency. Whilst the medical care may ultimately reside with the GP, there are various other responsibilities that need to be undertaken in cases of emergencies. This course will assist staff in identifying and planning for emergency situations in general practice.
Course outline
• Strategies to address various types of emergencies
• How to recognise an emergency patient
• Cardiopulmonary resuscitation
• What to do if a patient collapses in the waiting area
• Process of working with ambulance service in an emergency
• How to look after your doctor following an emergency.
