(Division 3 held their sign up earlier utilizing the new online BidWeb sign up system). The summer divisional signup provides operators the opportunity to pick their work assignments for the summer months. The signup was successfully completed, but had a minor delay at Division 6 on Saturday. With the successful pilot demonstration of BidWeb at D3, the District and Union have agreed to continue the rollout of the new online BidWeb sign up system during the next three divisional sign ups, which should occur in December 2017, March 2018, and June 2018. After operators have successfully mastered the online process for BidWeb for the divisional sign ups, the District and Union will need to meet again to discuss the transition to the August General Sign Up. Leadership San Leandro Graduation On Thursday, June 8, AC Transit sponsored the Leadership San Leandro Graduation hosted by the San Leandro Chamber of Commerce. This program develops leadership and professional skills as well as hosts monthly field trips around San Leandro. We are proud to support community and business leaders in San Leandro. Estee Sepulveda, External Affairs Representative, attended on behalf of AC Transit. Legislative Visit to Capitol Hill In midJune, Board President Elsa Ortiz, Director of Legislative Affairs & Community Relations Beverly Greene, and External Affairs Representative Estee Sepulveda traveled to Washington D.C. to meet with Congressional Representatives. They visited with Representative Barbara Lee, Representative Mark DeSaulnier, Representative Eric Swalwell, Representative John Garamendi, and staff from the offices Senator Dianne Feinstein, Senator Kamala Harris, Representative Doug LaMalfa, and Representative Luke Messer. They discussed AC Transit economic impact across the country. When we order buses to add to our fleet, we support manufacturing jobs locally and nationally. We also discussed the District’s progress on the East Bay BRT and Flex service pilot programs in Newark/Fremont and Castro Valley. Board of Directors June 28, 2017 Agenda Item 8

Warriors Parade‐ When  the Golden  State Warriors brought  the  championship  trophy back  to Oakland,  capping off  a 16‐1 postseason run that matched the best record  in the NBA’s 71‐year history, we knew the party was going to be off the hook.  The City of Oakland expected more than a million people to flood the downtown area, forcing the closure of local streets and straining AC Transit’s ability to get passengers where they needed to go.     Rider  communication  started well before parade day. Marketing and Communications prepared 185 at‐stop  signs  to direct passengers to diverted routes. Email messages detailing service for that day was sent to 6,486 eNews subscibers. More than 23,000  flyers  were  placed  on  seats  throughout  the  fleet  two  days  prior  to  the  event,  warning  of  upcoming  detours. Communications  staff was  active on  social media  the night  the Warriors won  the  championship  as well  as  the day of  the parade. During  the  five  day  period  around  the  event,  Twitter  alone  garnered  125,112  impressions. While  there were  the expected small number of people complaining about the impact to service, most riders were appreciative of the planning and work that went into the event. Comments included:

The Department  of  Legislative Affairs &  Community  Relations  resurrected AC  Transit’s  Community Ambassadors  Program.  More than 60 employees volunteered their time to serve as the face of AC Transit during the Warriors victory celebration on Thursday, June 15.  Ambassadors, armed with AC Transit t‐shirts and caps, passed out extensive line detour flyers, connected people to transit services, provided directions to event activities, helped people in medical distress locate first aid stations, and even reunited a few families who were separated during the festivities. All ambassadors did a first‐rate job of representing AC Transit during this exciting event, and are primed to do it again next year!  Go Dubs!   But AC Transit staff didn’t only assist along the parade and rally routes—we were also a part of the parade! Our hybrid‐diesel Gillig coach was decked out with Warriors signage and our own Warrior‐centric sentiment (AC Transit Rides for Dub Nation). Twenty‐four bus operators and mechanics in their dress best walked alongside the coach during the parade and showed that AC Transit  is an  intrinsic and vital part of  the East Bay community. Staff were provided Warriors Championship  towels and banners to express our Warriors Pride and had the opportunity to mix and mingle with elected officials, community  leaders and Warriors  staff  during  the  pre‐parade  festivities.  The  crowd  could  be  heard  chanting  "AC  Transit"  at  various  locations throughout the route further validating the East Bay's appreciation for our agency.

Mi Lewis05/02/17Hello Yesterday the 14 bus never showed up going to Fruitvale BART at Stop ID 53833. What is happening? The bus is supposed to be there by 6:15 am

Collaborations with OCC created responsive social information sharing

on service and detours.

Sharing social media reports from riders with supervisors has helped divisions train their operators for

improved performance.

Our annual Bike To Work Day presence was in full effect at Ogawa plaza. T-shirts with the design on the left were very popular!

In May, we began public communications on the upcoming Fare Change, set for July 1.
