•UN Women’s work is aimed at furthering the outcomes of the COP 17 to COP 20

•Collectively advancing the gender and climate change agenda with partners in government and civil society :•Strengthen women’s voices to advocate for gender sensitive climate agreements, national adaptation plans and regional frameworks.

•Further the outcomes of the International Climate Change process by collectively advancing the gender and climate change agenda with partners in government and civil society.

•Strengthen women’s economic empowerment initiatives including clean energy development that address the impact of climate change. Additionally, the project aspires to propel the Rural Women’s agenda to the forefront of debates pertaining to climate change.

•Support relevant institutions to develop and implement gender sensitive responses that mitigate against climate.

•Formulating strategies for renewable energy

•Ensure efforts towards mitigation and adaptation in the face of climate change include women’s agency ad voices

•Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, the international roadmap on women’s rights adopted by world leaders in 1995, recognized the critical role that women play in protecting the environment.

•COP 18 “Promoting gender balance and improving the participation of women in UNFCCC negotiations and in the representation of Parties in bodies established pursuant to the Convention or the Kyoto Protocol, takes a significant step in advancing gender-sensitive climate policy by ensuring that women's voices are heard”

•The 55th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) adopted a resolution to mainstream gender equality and promote the empowerment of women in climate change policies and strategies.

•Paris December 2015, to agree on a new global agreement under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change,

•Important to seek to resolve the important question about collective action to reduce carbon emissions that causes climate change and

•Also how to build resilience in communities to climate change impacts.

•Important to provide the finance needed for climate-smart development around the world.
