The Immanence of GodThe Immanence of God

The literal meaning of immanence is “to bewithin” or “near.” God’s immanence meansthat He is within or present to the entireuniverse. Immanence is closely associatedwith god’s omnipresence, though there is adistinction between them. By Hisomnipresence God is present to all of Hiscreation, but by His immanence He is withinit.

God’s SovereigntyGod’s Sovereignty

Sovereignty includes both God’s right tocontrol all, as well as His actual sovereigndominion over all things. Theologically, sovereignty refers to God’s complete controlof all things. As the Westminster Confessionof Faith affirms, “God from all eternity, did bythe most wise and holy counsel of His ownwill, freely, and unchangeably ordainwhatever comes to pass.”
